We are looking for an experienced Data Architect / Principal to lead the design and modernization of enterprise data platforms supporting IFRS17 regulatory reporting. The role involves assessing the current data landscape, defining the target-state architecture, and driving transformation across ETL pipelines, cloud data platforms, and reporting ecosystems.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Azure data platforms, large-scale ETL frameworks, and financial data processing, with a focus on data quality, governance, lineage, and auditability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end data architecture across IFRS17 data flows, including source systems, ETL pipelines, actuarial, finance, and reporting layers
  • Assess current state (AS-IS) architecture to identify gaps in data quality, reconciliation, governance, and manual interventions
  • Review and optimize source-to-target data flows, data models, and transformation layers
  • Design and govern ETL/ELT architecture using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SSIS, Synapse, and SQL platforms
  • Define data models and layered architecture (Landing, Staging, Foundation, Reporting / Lakehouse Bronze-Silver-Gold)
  • Design and implement Azure-based data platform architecture (ADLS, Synapse, Databricks, SQL serving layers)
  • Establish robust data quality frameworks ensuring completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and reconciliation with actuarial and finance outputs
  • Implement end-to-end data lineage and traceability to support audit, compliance, and IFRS17 reporting requirements
  • Define target-state (TO-BE) architecture aligned with scalable, cloud-first, and modern data platform principles
  • Drive data modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy SSIS pipelines to Databricks/Lakehouse architecture
  • Improve automation and efficiency by reducing manual interventions through standardized ETL frameworks
  • Establish data governance standards including controls, metadata management, security, naming conventions, and best practices
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders (finance, actuarial, engineering) and provide technical leadership for delivery and solutioning

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in Azure Data Platform (ADF, ADLS, Synapse, Databricks)
  • Deep understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks and data pipeline design
  • Experience in data modelling, SQL optimization, and performance tuning
  • Knowledge of Lakehouse architecture (Delta Lake, Bronze/Silver/Gold layers)
  • Familiarity with data governance, lineage, and data quality frameworks
  • Experience in Insurance / Finance domain (IFRS17 preferred)
  • Understanding of regulatory reporting, actuarial data flows, and financial data processing
  • Experience working on large-scale data transformation or modernization programs
