Job Summary
Own the audio subsystem on ARM-based SoC platforms — kernel audio drivers, userspace audio frameworks, DSP offload and voice/audio processing pipelines for edge, enterprise and robotics devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Bring up audio hardware paths — codecs, amplifiers, I2S/TDM/SoundWire/PDM interfaces and clocking.
- Develop and maintain ALSA SoC (ASoC) machine, platform and codec drivers, DAPM routing and mixer controls.
- Integrate userspace audio frameworks (PulseAudio/PipeWire, TinyALSA, or Android audio HAL) and define routing and use-case policy.
- Enable audio DSP offload — firmware loading, control interfaces, tunnelled playback and low-power always-on listening paths.
- Integrate and tune voice and audio processing chains: echo cancellation, noise suppression, beamforming, multi-mic arrays and keyword detection.
- Measure and optimize end-to-end audio latency, glitch rate, power consumption and objective audio quality.
- Debug pops, clicks, underruns, XRUNs, sync drift and DSP crashes using traces, logs and audio capture analysis.
- Support acoustic tuning cycles and define audio validation and regression coverage.
Skill Requirements
- 8–10 years in embedded audio software engineering.
- Strong C, with C++ where the framework demands it, on embedded Linux and/or Android.
- Deep ALSA / ASoC driver development experience — DAPM, DAI links, kcontrols, codec drivers.
- Hands-on with digital audio interfaces: I2S, TDM, SoundWire, PDM; clocking and sample-rate handling.
- Audio DSP integration — firmware load, control protocol, offload playback/capture paths.
- Understanding of audio signal processing fundamentals and voice front-end algorithms (AEC, NS, beamforming).
- Latency, power and audio quality measurement and debugging methodology.
Other Requirements
- Android audio HAL, AAudio or audio policy manager experience.
- PipeWire or PulseAudio module development.
- Programming on on-SoC audio/compute DSP cores using vendor DSP toolchains.
- Bluetooth audio profiles (A2DP, HFP, LE Audio / LC3).
- Acoustic tuning and lab measurement experience.
