SSD Component Quality Engineer - Job Description
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled SSD Component Quality Engineer to drive the
quality and reliability of Solid State Drive (SSD) components, focusing on both current products
and new technologies. This role is central to monitoring product health, executing firmware
qualifications, and enhancing our quality infrastructure through automation and data
analysis.Key Responsibilities
1. Component Reliability and Monitoring
● ASR/DPPM Monitoring: Establish and maintain active monitoring of Annualized Failure
Rate (ASR) alerts for TLC/SLC SSDs. Perform failure analysis, including pareto charting
for all data and boot SSDs on AI/CnS systems.
● Data Analysis: Conduct in-depth SSD parametric data analysis and review DPPM
(Defective Parts Per Million) and VLRR (Vendor Lot Rejection Rate) findings to provide
actionable feedback.
● Alert Triage: Own the process for triaging and resolving SSD Endurance alerts.
● Sustaining Engineering: Manage SSD sustaining activities, including firmware (FW)
qualifications, Change Requests (CRs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and
handling FAVE/MTE escalations.
● Lab Support: Provide hands-on lab support, specifically modify and execute tests in
in-house test framework in Python and executing JQ (Joint Qual) working with SSD
Vendors, on limited sample SSDs, including next-generation QLC technology.
2. Quality Infrastructure and Reporting
● Dashboard Management: Partner with SCAI or other resources to maintain current
quality dashboards and drive the development of new dashboards for improved visibility
and reporting.
3. Process Improvement and Automation
● Automation: Lead and contribute to automation efforts across quality processes to
increase efficiency and scalability.
● Manufacturing Test Improvement: Drive improvements in manufacturing test error
code classification and quality to ensure accurate issue detection.
Minimum Qualifications (Inferred)
● B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
● Proven experience in SSD or NAND flash component quality, reliability, or failure
analysis.
● Strong understanding of quality metrics such as ASR, DPPM, and endurance.
Preferred Qualifications (Inferred)
● Experience with data analysis tools and developing/maintaining quality dashboards.
● Familiarity with firmware qualification processes and change management (CRs, ECOs).
● Experience with lab testing environments and automation scripting

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law.
