Senior Technical Lead - DevOps, Python, Kubernetes

Job Summary

Responsible for leading technical teams in the implementation, automation, and maintenance of DevOps practices using Python and Kubernetes. The role involves ensuring efficient delivery of software projects, optimizing system performance, and providing technical guidance to team members.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and mentor technical teams in the development and implementation of devops practices using python and kubernetes.
2. Design and implement automated deployment pipelines to ensure quick and efficient delivery of software products.
3. Collaborate with cross functional teams to define infrastructure requirements and ensure smooth deployment of applications.
4. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to devops tools and practices.
5. Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members on best practices for devops, python, and kubernetes.
6. Evaluate existing systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
7. Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in devops, python, and kubernetes to enhance team capabilities.

Skill Requirements

1. Proficiency in devops principles and practices.
2. Strong experience with python programming for automation tasks.
3. In-depth knowledge of kubernetes for container orchestration.
4. Familiarity with ci/cd tools for automated software delivery.
5. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
6. Strong leadership and communication abilities to mentor and guide team members effectively.

Other Requirements

Required Technical Skills

    *   Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

    *   Understanding of build, test, deploy, promotion, rollback, and release automation patterns.

    *   Working knowledge of RHEL/UBI 8.

    *   Practical experience with Kubernetes, ideally OpenShift.

    *   Ability to build, inspect, troubleshoot, and optimise container images.

    *   Understanding of registries, image tagging, runtime behaviour, and container logs.

    *   Experience with Helm charts, Ansible playbooks, or similar deployment automation.

    *   Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code / Configuration as Code principles.

    *   Ability to manage deployment configuration through source control.

    *   Strong ability to trace API traffic across multiple components.

    *   Experience troubleshooting across API gateways, ingress/routes, middleware, authentication, backend services, downstream systems, and network components.

    *   Good understanding of HTTP, REST, headers, status codes, request/response flows, latency, timeouts, and error patterns.

    *   Deep troubleshooting capability across pipeline, platform, application, Linux, network, and API layers.

    *   Experience using logs, metrics, events, traces, and deployment evidence to support investigations.

    *   Familiarity with tools such as **Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or similar.

    *   Experience working in a highly regulated environment.

    *   Understanding of change control, release governance, audit evidence, production controls, and operational resilience.

    *   Ability to produce clear documentation, runbooks, investigation notes, and deployment evidence.

    *   Familiarity with Java, Maven, and Artifactory.

 

Desirable Technical Skills(Preferred but not mandatory)

    *   Experience with API gateway / API management platforms.

    *   Understanding of routing, policies, authentication, throttling, certificates, mTLS, and traffic inspection.

    *   Experience troubleshooting TLS, maTLS, certificates, trust stores, keystores, and certificate chains.

    *   Awareness of secrets management and secure configuration handling.

    *   Working knowledge of DNS, proxies, firewalls, load balancers, ingress controllers, routing, ports, and connectivity testing.

    *   Experience supporting multiple environments, including dev, test, staging, pre-production, and production.

    *   Understanding of deployment promotion, rollback, release evidence, and environment drift.

    *   Experience with Ansible, Terraform, or similar automation tooling.

    *   Familiarity with DevSecOps practices such as image scanning, dependency scanning, secret detection, SAST/DAST, and policy-controlled pipelines.
