Job Summary

Seeking a Senior Looker SME to lead enterprise BI modernization initiatives, define semantic modeling standards, architect scalable analytics platforms, and drive Cognos/Tableau/Power BI migrations to Looker on Google Cloud.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise Looker architecture, governance, and implementation programs.
  • Design and manage LookML semantic models, Explores, views, and reusable analytics assets.
  • Define enterprise semantic layer and metric governance standards.
  • Architect BigQuery-based analytics solutions optimized for Looker consumption.
  • Drive dashboard modernization and reporting transformation programs.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering teams on dimensional modeling and data warehouse design.
  • Establish best practices for performance tuning, metadata management, and security.
  • Lead customer workshops, solution reviews, and executive presentations.
  • Mentor Looker developers and BI engineers.
  • Develop LookML views, models, Explores, dashboards, and reports.
  • Build reusable semantic models aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Create executive, operational, and self-service dashboards.
  • Optimize Looker performance and query execution.
  • Implement security models, user roles, and access controls.
  • Work closely with BigQuery and Data Engineering teams.
  • Support migration of legacy BI platforms to Looker.
  • Participate in code reviews and release deployments.
  •  

Skill Requirements

  • 4+ years of Looker development experience.
  • Strong expertise in LookML.
  • Strong SQL development skills.
  • BigQuery experience.
  • Dimensional modeling and data warehouse concepts.
  • Dashboard development and visualization best practices.
  • Git-based development lifecycle.
  • Experience troubleshooting Looker performance issues.

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies. In addition, this role is eligible for the following benefits subject to company policies: medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, life, accidental death & dismemberment, and disability insurance; employee assistance program; 401(k) retirement plan; 10 days of paid time off per year (some positions are eligible for need-based leave with no designated number of leave days per year); and 10 paid holidays per year.
