Role Overview
The Ops Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, availability, security, and performance of business-critical applications and production systems. The role involves production support, incident management, release deployment, monitoring, automation, and continuous improvement activities while working closely with development, testing, and business teams in an Agile/DevOps environment.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Production Support & Incident Management
- Provide L2/L3 support for production applications and services.
- Monitor application health and system availability.
- Troubleshoot incidents and perform root cause analysis (RCA).
- Resolve production issues within defined SLAs.
- Drive permanent fixes for recurring problems.
Monitoring & Operations
- Monitor applications, infrastructure, interfaces, and batch jobs.
- Handle job failures, reruns, and operational recovery activities.
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of critical business processes.
- Analyze logs and system alerts to identify potential issues proactively.
Release & Deployment Support
- Execute deployments across Development, Acceptance, and Production environments.
- Validate deployment outcomes and ensure system stability post-release.
- Coordinate release activities with development and testing teams.
- Support change and release management processes.
Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Bash, or Shell scripting.
- Reduce manual operational activities through automation.
- Contribute to process improvements and operational excellence initiatives.
- Support CI/CD and DevOps practices.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure system patching and security compliance.
- Support audit, risk, and compliance activities.
- Follow organizational security standards and operational policies.
- Participate in vulnerability remediation and risk mitigation activities.
Agile & Team Collaboration
- Work within Agile/Scrum or BusDevOps teams.
- Participate in stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and operational reviews.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, business analysts, and stakeholders.
- Support on-call, shift, and weekend production activities when required.
