Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation, enhancement, and support of Epic HIM solutions.
  • Gather and analyze business, operational, and regulatory requirements related to health information management.
  • Configure and maintain HIM workflows including chart completion, deficiencies, document management, identity management, and release of information (ROI).
  • Support electronic medical record (EMR) lifecycle management processes.
  • Collaborate with clinical documentation, coding, patient access, compliance, and revenue cycle teams.
  • Configure provider deficiency tracking, chart completion queues, suspension workflows, and notifications.
  • Support document imaging, scanning, indexing, chart correction, and record reconciliation processes.
  • Facilitate Release of Information (ROI) workflows and compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Support data integrity initiatives, duplicate record management, and patient identity resolution processes.
  • Conduct workflow assessments and recommend process improvements aligned with Epic best practices.
  • Develop functional design documents, build specifications, workflow diagrams, testing scripts, and training guides.
  • Lead unit testing, integrated testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing activities.
  • Participate in cutover planning, go-live activities, and hypercare support.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate resolution with technical and operational teams.
  • Support Epic upgrades, application enhancements, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Mentor junior consultants and facilitate knowledge transfer sessions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of healthcare IT or Health Information Management experience.
  • Epic HIM Certification (Mandatory).
  • Strong understanding of healthcare records management and clinical documentation workflows.
  • Experience with chart completion, deficiency management, document management, and ROI processes.
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance, privacy regulations, and medical record governance.
  • Experience supporting HIM operations within hospitals and integrated delivery networks.
  • Ability to conduct workflow analysis, solution design, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills.
  • Experience working with Canadian healthcare organizations is highly preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Epic Clinical Documentation (ClinDoc) Certification.
  • Epic Identity Certification.
  • Epic Grand Central Certification.
  • Epic Hospital Billing (HB) Certification.
  • Experience with document imaging and enterprise content management systems.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10, coding workflows, and clinical documentation improvement (CDI) processes.
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability and EMR migration initiatives.
  • Exposure to Reporting Workbench, Clarity, and operational reporting tools.
  • Experience in Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
