Job Summary

We are seeking two Senior/Expert Enterprise Application Engineers to support strategic Finance Platform initiatives across Bayer Functions and Divisions. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering expertise with enterprise application development experience and is able to transform business requirements, process requirements, and solution concepts into secure, scalable, maintainable, and production-ready applications.

The individual is expected to work within Bayer's established architecture landscape and engineering standards while contributing hands-on to implementation, integration, automation, and operationalization activities. This is a delivery-focused engineering role — we are looking for experienced professionals who actively build, integrate, deploy, and operate business-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

Application Design & Implementation

• Design and develop enterprise-grade business applications.

• Translate business requirements into maintainable, scalable software solutions.

• Build browser-based and mobile-responsive applications.

• Drive solution realization from initial requirements through productive deployment.

• Identify technical risks, constraints, and optimization opportunities early in the delivery process.

• Deliver secure, reliable, and scalable software products.

• Contribute to reusable engineering assets and development standards.

Enterprise Software Engineering

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and operate enterprise applications.

• Build maintainable, modular, and reusable software components.

• Develop secure APIs and integration services.

• Apply modern engineering practices to ensure delivery speed and quality.

• Optimize performance, usability, reliability, and maintainability.

• Design solutions capable of supporting growing user communities and business demand.

• Ensure applications can be successfully transitioned into long-term operations.

Security, Identity & Compliance

• Design applications handling business-critical and financially relevant processes.

• Implement secure authentication and authorization using Microsoft Entra ID and SSO.

• Support role-based access control and segregation-of-duties principles.

• Implement secure transaction processing and user access controls.

• Ensure traceability, auditability, logging, and compliance requirements are fulfilled.

• Support secure integrations with internal and external systems.

• Ensure solutions comply with corporate security, governance, privacy, and compliance standards.

Integration, Automation & AI Enablement

• Design and implement integrations across multiple enterprise platforms.

• Develop reusable APIs and services for consumption by applications and automation platforms.

• Support workflow automation and process digitalization initiatives.

• Understand API-first and service-oriented architecture principles.

• Integrate enterprise applications with data platforms and analytics solutions.

• Understand current AI application concepts, Agentic Workflows, and enterprise AI architectures.

• Support automation and agentification initiatives through practical implementation.

• Understand MCP (Model Context Protocol) concepts and interoperability patterns between agents, applications, services, and data platforms.

Business Process Enablement

• Understand business processes and functional requirements.

• Translate process requirements into intuitive digital experiences.

• Support workflow implementation and process automation.

• Design applications that improve user productivity and business outcomes.

• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to validate requirements and solutions.

• Balance usability, process integrity, security, and maintainability.

Multi-Team & Multi-Vendor Delivery

• Operate effectively within complex organizational environments.

• Collaborate with global delivery teams, internal Bayer organizations, and external service providers.

• Integrate seamlessly into existing team structures and ways of working.

• Work constructively within engineering standards and architectural guardrails.

• Partner effectively with peers across Functions, Divisions, ED&A, Finance Platform teams, and external vendors.

DevOps & Operational Excellence

• Work within Agile and DevOps delivery models.

• Utilize Azure DevOps for planning, backlog management, sprint execution, and delivery coordination.

• Participate actively in implementation, testing, deployment, and operational handover activities.

• Support CI/CD, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

• Ensure solutions remain maintainable, supportable, and operationally sustainable.

• Contribute to release planning, deployment readiness, and production stabilization activities.
