Role Description

Client-Facing Job Description for Windchill Cloud Migration and Upgrade Program

Role Overview

The Cloud Migration Architect serves as the lead architect responsible for designing, governing and executing the migration of Windchill and associated applications including ACD, APE and ThingWorx to a secure cloud platform. The role owns cloud architecture, migration strategy, security, disaster recovery, performance engineering, cutover planning and operational readiness.

Experience & Qualifications

Minimum 12 years experience in enterprise infrastructure and cloud architecture; 8+ years delivering Azure and/or AWS migrations; strong understanding of PLM platforms including Windchill; experience in HA/DR, security, networking and enterprise integrations.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Define target-state cloud architecture
• Lead discovery and assessment workshops
• Establish migration roadmap and wave plans
• Design compute, storage, network and security architecture
• Lead environment provisioning and automation
• Govern migration rehearsals and production cutover
• Coordinate with Windchill upgrade, infrastructure and testing teams
• Define monitoring, backup and disaster recovery strategy
• Drive performance benchmarking and optimization
• Present technical status to Steering Committee and client leadership

Deliverables Cloud Architecture Document; Migration Strategy; Security Design; Target Environment Design; HA/DR Design; Migration Runbooks; Cutover Plan; Risk Register; Operational Readiness Assessment; Knowledge Transfer Package. Success Criteria Successful migration within approved downtime window; zero critical security findings; DR drill successfully completed; performance meets or exceeds baseline; successful UAT and production acceptance; stable hypercare period; operational handover accepted by client.
