Senior Technical Specialist

Job Summary

The Software Engineer - Proficient will design, build, integrate and support scalable backend and service-layer solutions for Bayer DHub squads. The role requires strong hands-on engineering capability, cloud-native delivery experience and the ability to work independently in embedded agile squads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain backend services, REST APIs, integrations and event-driven components.
  • Translate user stories and technical requirements into secure, maintainable and testable software components.
  • Build microservices and service layers using Python, Node.js, C#, Go or equivalent modern engineering stacks.
  • Work with AWS, Docker and Kubernetes-based deployment patterns in collaboration with Cloud / DevOps teams.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, design reviews, code reviews, demos and retrospectives.
  • Implement unit tests, integration tests, observability hooks and secure coding practices.
  • Support troubleshooting, performance tuning, production issue analysis and root-cause remediation

Skill Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience in Python / Node.js / C# / Go, REST APIs and backend service development.
  • Experience with Kafka or equivalent messaging / streaming platforms.
  • Cloud-native development exposure on AWS, including containerized deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Git, CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Knowledge of API design, service decomposition, performance tuning and secure SDLC practices.
  • Ability to understand existing codebases and deliver brownfield enhancements with minimal regression risk.

Other Requirements

  • Experience working in distributed agile squads with product owners, platform leads and engineering leads.
  • Strong communication, ownership, problem-solving and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Good to have: Agentic AI experience, AI-assisted coding, code review agents, test generation agents, spec-driven development or engineering copilot usage.
  • Good to have: Experience in life sciences, pharma, crop science or regulated enterprise environments.
