Job Summary

The Senior Technical Specialist (SAP PPDS) serves as the ultimate subject matter expert for production planning and detailed scheduling within SAP S/4HANA. This role owns the design, optimization, and governance of the PPDS landscape to ensure maximum shop-floor efficiency and minimal machine downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Configuration: Design and maintain PPDS master data, including Production Data Structures (PDS) and setup matrices.
  • Schedule Optimization: Configure Detailed Scheduling (DS) boards, heuristics, and optimization servers to manage finite capacity.
  • Data Integrity: Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, including liveCache consistency and Core Interface (CIF) queues.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Align PPDS seamlessly with SAP PP, MM, QM, and PM modules.
  • Technical Governance: Mentor junior consultants and lead technical troubleshooting for complex manufacturing bottlenecks.

Skill Requirements

  • PPDS Configuration: Deep expertise in configuring Detailed Scheduling (DS) boards, Planning Boards, and the PPDS Optimizer.
  • Master Data Management: Advanced knowledge of creating and maintaining Production Data Structures (PDS), resource capacities, and setup matrices.
  • liveCache Architecture: Strong proficiency in monitoring and troubleshooting SAP liveCache consistency and performance.
  • Heuristics Tuning: Proven ability to customize, run, and optimize standard and advanced SAP PPDS planning heuristics.
  • Integration & Alerts: Expert-level capability in managing the Alert Monitor and handling data transfers via Core Interface (CIF) or S/4HANA internal frameworks.
