Job Summary
The Senior Field Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing Event Management and AIOps platforms across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. This is a customer-facing role that focuses on translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions, improving event quality, and ensuring reliable platform performance.The role involves working closely with customers to understand their operational needs, designing robust architectures, integrating multiple systems, and optimizing event processing workflows such as correlation and noise reduction. The engineer is also expected to drive best practices, conduct technical workshops, and provide guidance to ensure successful platform adoption and long-term value.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a customer-facing Field Engineer to ensure successful adoption of Event Management and AIOps platforms
- Understand customer requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions
- Design, deploy, and optimize scalable architectures across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments
- Perform system sizing, capacity planning, and performance tuning to ensure reliable operations
- Implement and optimize event processing workflows including ingestion, enrichment, deduplication, correlation, and noise reduction
- Ensure high event quality by applying proper event attributes such as severity, source, and deduplication keys
- Integrate multiple systems using APIs and standard integration patterns
- Support deployment of distributed and highly available architectures
- Troubleshoot platform, performance, and data-related issues across application and database layers
- Conduct customer workshops, technical discussions, and design walkthroughs
- Provide knowledge transfer, documentation, and best-practice guidance to customers
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical challenges and improve overall solution quality
Skill Requirements
- Strong experience with Event Management, AIOps, or Observability platforms such as Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk ITSI, ServiceNow ITOM, or similar tools
- Hands-on expertise in event processing workflows, including ingestion, enrichment, deduplication, correlation, fail/clear handling, and alert noise reduction
- Solid understanding of architecture design, including scalable, distributed, cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments
- Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in integration development using REST APIs and data transformation workflows
- Good knowledge of database concepts (RDBMS) and experience in backend/data-level troubleshooting
- Programming or scripting skills in Python, Shell, Java, or JavaScript
- Strong understanding of event quality management and alert lifecycle handling
- Experience in system integration and building end-to-end event pipelines
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across application, platform, and database layers
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
Other Requirements
- Knowledge of cloud-native architecture, serverless concepts, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with messaging or streaming technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes
- Understanding of ITSM / ITIL processes and integration with ticketing systems
- Experience with SNMP integrations and MIB handling (for on-prem environments)
