Job Summary
The Senior Functional Tester - Embedded Software plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and functionality of software applications through comprehensive testing. This role involves creating and executing test cases, tracking metrics, and collaborating with both the development team and clients to meet quality standards and client requirements, thus contributing significantly to the overall success of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze the test basis (e.g., specifications, requirements, technical documents) to ensure clarity, completeness, and testability, etc.
- Develop detailed test specifications.
- Verify readiness of the test infrastructure, including environments, tools, test data, and configurations. Utilize various testing platforms to simulate real‑world operating conditions and validate system performance, functionality, and reliability.
- Develop & execute both automation and manual test cases. Implement, run, and maintain automated test scripts to enhance efficiency, coverage, and repeatability.
- Analyze software and system defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions with development teams. Document defects clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner in defect tracking systems.
- Analyze and summarize test results, identify potential risks, and report progress to engineering teams, stakeholders, and VnV Test Coordinators. Ensure proper archiving and maintenance of test artifacts (test cases, reports, logs, scripts, and test data).
Skill Requirements
- Fluent in English, written and spoken
- Major in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study.
- General knowledge of a test lifecycle
- Knowledge of test design, specification methods and scripting languages.
- The ability to review and use test design and specification methods
- AUTOSAR BSW components: Foundation about BSW (Communication, Diagnostic, Failure Management).
- Knowledge of CAN fundamentals and associated standards such as ISO-11898.
- Diagnostic Protocols: Familiarity with UDS as defined by ISO-14229 and diagnostic communication over CAN (ISO-15765).
- Good scripting skills in Python, CAPL (or C) for:
- Test automation
- Test report analysis
- ECU simulation and testing
- Experience working in the CANoe environment is highly recommended.
- Proven experience in embedded systems testing within the automotive industry. Formal software testing certification (e.g., ISTQB Certified Tester) is highly desirable.
- Excellent troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue-resolution skills
- Ability to work both collaboratively in teams and independently
Other Requirements
- Automotive Systems: Proficient understanding of automotive software architecture, especially Basic Software (BSW)
- ADAS Functionality Basic knowledge of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) features and their real-world applications (e.g., ACC, AEB).
- Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) & Debugging: Experience with testing on HIL setups and using hardware interfaces such as Vector CAN/CAN-FD interfaces and debugging tools such as Lauterbach.
- Automotive Ethernet: Understanding of Ethernet fundamentals (OSI model, TCP/IP stack) and its application in automotive contexts.
- Test Automation & Tools
- Experience using Vector tools like CANoe and vTESTstudio.
- Able to analyze and debug with tools such as CANape.
- Bash/Shell: Experience writing scripts to automate tasks in Linux/Unix systems.
- Version Control & CI/CT:
- Experience using version control tools like Git or Bitbucket.\
- Familiarity with CI tools such as Jenkins is a plus.
- Project & Requirement Management: Experience using Jira for issue tracking and project management. Familiarity with configuration and requirement management tools (e.g., DOORS, RQM).
