Job Summary

This role requires strong competency in Bash scripting and Linux/Unix command-line operations to automate operational tasks, support system administration, improve deployment processes, troubleshoot production issues, and enhance overall infrastructure reliability. The candidate should be able to design, write, test, debug, and maintain shell scripts that are secure, reusable, scalable, and well documented. Core Bash Competencies • Strong knowledge of Bash shell scripting concepts, including variables, arrays, functions, loops, conditionals, command substitution, quoting, and parameter expansion. • Ability to write modular, reusable, readable, and maintainable shell scripts for automation and operational support. • Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix command-line utilities such as grep, awk, sed, cut, sort, uniq, find, xargs, tar, rsync, curl, wget, jq, and netstat or ss. • Good understanding of file handling, text processing, log parsing, data extraction, and report generation using shell commands. • Experience with process management, job control, background execution, signal handling, exit codes, and return status validation. • Ability to implement robust error handling, input validation, logging, retry logic, and exception handling within shell scripts. • Knowledge of permissions, ownership, sudo usage, environment variables, PATH management, and secure script execution practices. • Experience scheduling and managing automated tasks using cron, systemd timers, or enterprise scheduling tools. • Ability to debug scripts using set options, tracing, log analysis, shellcheck, and structured troubleshooting methods. • Understanding of script portability, performance optimization, and compatibility across different Linux/Unix distributions.
