Job Summary
The SQL / PostgreSQL Resource will be responsible for managing, maintaining, optimizing, and supporting SQL and PostgreSQL database environments to ensure high availability, performance, security, and reliability of business-critical applications. The Senior Administrator in Support & Operations plays a critical role in providing advanced technical support and ensuring operational excellence. This position focuses on troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementing effective solutions to enhance customer satisfaction and uphold security standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strong hands-on experience in SQL, PostgreSQL administration, database objects, stored procedures, functions, triggers, indexes, and views. • Good understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, replication, clustering, high availability, WAL, vacuuming, and database maintenance. • Experience in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and database monitoring. • Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries. • Knowledge of database security, access management, encryption, and audit controls. • Experience with database migration tools and methods, including SQL-to-PostgreSQL or Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration where applicable. • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and basic shell scripting. • Familiarity with automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or equivalent scripting tools. • Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting tools for database performance and availability. • Exposure to cloud database platforms such as Azure Database for PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, or equivalent is preferred 1. Provide Advanced Technical Support By Analyzing And Troubleshooting Complex Incidents Related To Etl Processes And Data Lake Operations, Ensuring Swift Resolution And Adherence To Quality Standards.
2. Conduct Root Cause Analysis For Escalated Issues, Implementing Solutions To Address Technical And Security Challenges Within Aws Core Services And Aws Rds Environments.
3. Collaborate With Cross-Functional Teams To Manage Data Pipelines Effectively, Ensuring Seamless Integration And Performance Optimization Across Platforms.
4. Enhance Operational Efficiency By Updating And Managing The Knowledge Base, And Training New Team Members On Etl Tools And Aws Analytics Services.
5. Resolve Complex Support Tickets In Alignment With Agreed Slas, Ensuring A Positive Customer Experience And Maintaining High Levels Of Customer Satisfaction (Csat) Through Effective First Call Resolution Strategies.
Skill Requirements
Install, configure, administer, and maintain SQL Server and PostgreSQL database environments. • Monitor database performance, availability, storage utilization, and system health. • Perform query optimization, indexing, performance tuning, and troubleshooting for production databases. • Implement and manage backup, restore, disaster recovery, and point-in-time recovery processes. • Manage database security, user access, roles, privileges, and compliance requirements. • Support database migrations, upgrades, patching, and environment refresh activities. • Work with application, infrastructure, and support teams to resolve database-related incidents and service requests. • Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, capacity plans, and change records. • Automate routine database administration tasks using scripts or available tools. • Provide technical guidance on database design, schema management, and best practices. 1. Other Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline is preferred. • Relevant database certifications in PostgreSQL, SQL Server, cloud database administration, or equivalent will be an added advantage. • Ability to work in production support environments with incident, problem, change, and release management processes. • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills. • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. • Willingness to support planned maintenance, upgrades, emergency fixes, and out-of-hours activities when required. • Experience in ITIL-based service delivery environments is preferred. 1.
