Job Summary

Mainframe DB2 DBA

1. Database Administration & Maintenance

• Manage day-to-day database administration activities for DB2 systems

• Create, modify, and maintain database objects (tables, indexes, views, schemas) [AOM Access...elines_0.3 | Word]

• Perform database refreshes and routine maintenance activities

2. Capacity & Storage Management

• Allocate system storage and plan for future database growth

• Monitor database utilization and optimize storage usage

3. Performance Monitoring & Optimization

• Monitor database performance and ensure high availability

• Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting [Master_Ser...ervices V3 | Word]

4. Security & Access Control

• Manage user access, roles, and privileges

• Ensure database security compliance and enforce access governance policies [Master_Ser...ervices V3 | Word]

5. Backup, Recovery & Data Protection

• Define and implement backup and recovery strategies

• Perform database backup, restore, and archival operations

• Ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness [Master_Ser...ervices V3 | Word]

6. Replication & Data Management

• Manage and monitor database replication and data synchronization

• Ensure consistency across multiple environments

7. Reporting & Data Analysis

• Generate reports and datasets by querying databases as per business needs

• Support data extraction, validation, and analysis

8. Compliance & Licensing

• Ensure adherence to database vendor licensing agreements

• Maintain compliance with internal policies and audit requirements

9. Incident & Problem Management

• Diagnose and resolve database-related incidents and issues

• Coordinate with application teams and vendors for complex problem resolution

10. Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination

• Engage with database vendors for technical support

• Collaborate with application developers and infrastructure teams

Skill Requirements

• Experience with DB2 z/OS or DB2 LUW environments 

• Knowledge of scripting/automation (Shell, JCL, etc.) 

• Familiarity with ServiceNow (SNOW) or similar ticketing tools

• Understanding of replication technologies and disaster recovery setups
