Job Summary

Role Summary \r\nTier 2 engineer owning complex incident resolution, change implementation, and operational improvement. Acts as escalation point for Tier 1 and coordinates with vendors/other teams. \r\nCapability alignment (Wacker levels) \r\nPrimary: Level 3–4 (Apply → Enable) \r\nPartial ownership: Level 5 “Ensure, advise” in defined areas (e.g., WLAN operations, Catalyst/Nexus/ISE domain, monitoring improvements) \r\nKey Responsibilities (aligned to Wacker tasks) \r\nA) Event Monitoring & Incident Management — (Level 3 Apply; often Level 4 Enable) \r\nTroubleshoot non-routine incidents across LAN/WLAN, including intermittent issues, routing instability, and Wi Fi auth/roaming problems. \r\nLead incident bridges for network P1/P2; coordinate escalations and ensure restoration within SLA. \r\nProduce incident summaries and contribute to RCA/preventive actions. \r\nB) Configuration & Release Management — (Level 3 Apply) \r\nPlan and execute change tasks: firmware upgrades, config deployments, compliance checks, rollback plans. \r\nMaintain configuration standards, backups, and audit-ready evidence. \r\nC) Infrastructure Operations — (toward Level 5 Ensure, advise) \r\nImprove monitoring fidelity (alert tuning, correlation, noise reduction) and implement runbook enhancements. \r\nContribute to automation (scripts/Ansible) for checks, backups, compliance, and faster diagnostics (CCNP-level “assurance + automation” orientation). \r\nD) Network Design — (Support Level 5 Ensure, advise) \r\nReview LLDs and implementation plans for operability, monitoring hooks, resiliency, and recovery routines. \r\nRequired Skills (Technical) \r\nStrong troubleshooting: VLAN/STP, EtherChannel, routing protocols (OSPF/BGP exposure), QoS basics, VPN/Wi Fi authentication awareness (802.1X). \r\nCisco WLAN operations: controllers/APs, site-survey awareness; wireless security (WPA2/3, 802.1X). \r\nCisco Catalyst/IOS/Nexus/ISE operations (vPC awareness, HA concepts, upgrade planning support. \r\nCertifications (preferred) \r\nCCNP Enterprise (preferred) or demonstrable CCNP-equivalent skills in infra, assurance, security, and automation. \r\nCapability to perform Wacker NOC tasks \r\nNetwork design (L5 Ensure, advise): Support / co-review (operability, resiliency, monitoring requirements) \r\nInfrastructure operations (L5 Ensure, advise): Enable in parts (monitoring improvements, automation contributions) \r\nMonitoring & incidents (L3 Apply): Strong Apply / Enable (lead P2, support P1, mentor Tier 1) Config & release (L3 Apply): Apply independently (changes, upgrades, patch lifecycle support)\r\n
