Job Summary

The L2 Storage  Operations Engineer provides technical operations support for storage and backup platforms, handling incidents, service requests, restorations, and day‑to‑day operational activities within a centralised, consolidated operations model.

Key Responsibilities

Storage Operations

  • Perform day‑to‑day operations for SAN and NAS storage platforms
  • Monitor storage health, capacity, and performance using centralised monitoring and email alerts
  • Execute storage provisioning, expansion, and reclamation activities
  • Identify and resolve common storage incidents and alerts
  • Coordinate disk replacements and cabling activities with DC Hands & Feet teams

    Cloud Storage & Archival
  • Support operational activities for cloud‑based storage and archival services
  • Monitor cloud storage utilisation and access
  • Execute data retrieval and restore requests from archive storage
  • Support hybrid storage operations (on‑prem + cloud archive)

Skill Requirements

  • Hands‑on experience with:
    • SAN / NAS storage (NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE or equivalent)
    • Enterprise backup tools (Veeam or equivalent)
  • Understanding of storage concepts: RAID, snapshots, replication
  • Experience with restore operations and backup troubleshooting
  • Exposure to cloud storage / archival services (operational level)
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of ITSM processes

1. Optional But Valuable Certifications: Emc Isilon Administration, Netapp Certified Data Administrator, Ibm Spectrum Scale Fundamentals
