Job Summary
The L2 Backup Operations Engineer provides technical operations support for storage and backup platforms, handling incidents, service requests, restorations, and day‑to‑day operational activities within a centralised, consolidated operations model.
- Monitor backup jobs and ensure successful completion
- Perform backup restores (file‑level, VM‑level, system‑level)
- Troubleshoot backup failures and re‑run jobs as required
- Validate backup schedules, retention policies, and job status
- Support backup‑related incidents within defined SLAs
Key Responsibilities
2. Conduct Thorough Root Cause Analysis For Escalated Incidents, Ensuring Timely Resolution And Effective Communication With Stakeholders To Maintain High Operational Standards.
3. Engage In Knowledge Base Management By Updating And Documenting Technical Solutions, While Also Training And Mentoring Junior Analysts To Build Team Capability.
4. Resolve Complex Support Tickets Efficiently Within Agreed Slas, Collaborating With Cross-Functional Support Teams To Maintain Security Posture And Operational Integrity.
5. Enhance Customer Experience And Satisfaction By Achieving First Call Resolution, Minimizing Rejected Resolutions, And Proactively Addressing Potential Security Threats.
Skill Requirements
- Deep expertise in enterprise storage platforms (NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE)
- Strong experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions
- Advanced troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills
- Strong understanding of DR architectures and data protection strategies
- Experience working with cloud storage and archival services
- Exposure to automation, scripting, or AIOps‑assisted operations (preferred)
- Strong vendor management and stakeholder communication skills
