Core Networking Fundamentals TCP/IP stack (L2–L7 understanding) Routing & Switching Protocols: OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, IS‑IS VLANs, STP, EVPN, VXLAN WAN technologies MPLS, SD‑WAN, Internet VPNs IP addressing & design IPv4/IPv6, CIDR, summarization High availability & resiliency HSRP/VRRP, ECMP, load balancing QoS & traffic engineering 2. Network Design & Architecture Skills (Architect Core) Enterprise network design. Campus, Data Center, WAN, Cloud Reference architectures = Spine‑Leaf, 3‑tier, Clos Scalability planning, Capacity planning & growth modeling Redundancy & fault tolerance, Active‑active, DR, multi‑region Technology evaluation, Vendor comparison & design tradeoffs Documentation HLD (High‑Level Design), LLD (Low‑Level Design) Network diagrams (logical & physical). 3. Data Center & Cloud Networking Modern architects must be hybrid‑focused. Data Center - Spine‑Leaf architectures, VXLAN/EVPN, DC interconnect (DCI) Storage networking basics (iSCSI, FC – conceptual), Cloud Networking (AWS / Azure / GCP) VPC / VNet design, Subnets, routing tables, IGW, NAT, Hybrid connectivity.
