JD: Summary Executes migrations using ShareGate (primary) and Quest (secondary) tooling. Runs assessments, pre-checks, test migrations, and cutovers at scale. Troubleshoots migration errors, throttling, permissions, and content anomalies. Manages detailed logs, reporting, and migration runbooks. Coordinates with PMs, architects, and content owners for timing and validation. Performs permissions mapping, user mapping, and site structure replication. Implements post-migration verification and remediation steps. Maintains tool configuration, licensing, and operational best practices. Role Overview The Migration Operator is responsible for hands-on execution of SharePoint migrations using ShareGate and/or Quest. This role sits at the center of migration delivery, operating the tooling, handling migration exceptions, and producing repeatable scripts and reporting for wave-based migrations. Key Responsibilities Perform discovery scans and generate migration readiness reports (size, unsupported items, risks). Develop plans for migrating SharePoint 2019 sites to SharePoint Online and troubleshoot potential pitfalls and customization issues that may arise. Configure and run: Test migrations (pilot) Incremental migrations Final cutover migrations Troubleshoot common issues: Authentication / permissions Throttling File path length / invalid characters Large lists/libraries Version history impacts Custom permissions/inheritance complexity Participate in mapping decisions: Site to site mappings User mapping (claims, UPN changes) Permissions strategy Produce operator deliverables: Execution logs Daily/weekly status metrics Exception lists Post-migration validation checklists Support hypercare by responding to defects and performing re-runs when needed. Maintain tool standard configurations (templates, scripts, reports). Qualifications 3+ years of IT operations or migration
