JOE SharePoint Architect (Intranet M365 Platform)
Summary
· Owns the SharePoint Online information architecture for the Intranet
· Leads migration strategy of existing custom solutions with SPFx, Node, Typescript, Web Parts with Accelerator 365
· Defines security, compliance, and retention patterns (IT Security Policies and Requirements).
· Establishes site provisioning standards, templates, and architecture.
· Coaches dev/ops teams and provides architectural oversight during delivery.
· Ensures performance, scalability, and operational reliability across the platform.
Role Overview
The JOE SharePoint Architect is responsible for end-to-end architecture of the enterprise Intranet built on SharePoint, with a strong emphasis on leading large-scale migrations and modernization initiatives leveraging AI. This role defines standards for information architecture, governance, security, compliance, and solution patterns across the SharePoint Intranet
Key Responsibilities
· Define target-state architecture for SharePoint Online
· Establish governance: provisioning, naming, ownership, lifecycle, external sharing, guest access, and audit controls.
· Create Azure Runbooks using App Registrations or Managed Identities to run through list of sites and gather or change data.
· Develop PowerShell scripts to lead discovery of environment, gather metadata, update specific site properties.
· Deploy Site Templates for Location and Function, CoPilot AI Agents with CoPilot Studio, SPFx components for links on the right rail, Accelerator 365 Quick Links, Translation, Power Automate and Azure Runbooks to automate News Subscription.
· Establish technical patterns for:
o Secure permissions (AAD groups, least privilege)
o Modern pages and web parts
o Search and metadata strategy
o Content publishing and brand/UX standards
· Provide oversight on complex migration exceptions: customizations, workflows, InfoPath, legacy solutions.
· Build architecture artifacts: standards, reference architectures, decision logs, design reviews, runbooks.
· Partner with program leadership to drive adoption, training, and change management.
Qualifications
· 5+ years in SharePoint engineering/architecture; 3+ years in SharePoint Online.
· Deep experience designing or leading enterprise migrations using ShareGate/Quest.
· Strong knowledge of SharePoint security model, governance, and Microsoft Purview compliance capabilities.
· Experience integrating with identity/security (Entra ID / Azure AD, Conditional Access).
· Ability to communicate architecture to both executive and technical audiences.
Nice to Have
· Experience with AvePoint / governance tooling, Quest tools, or third-party migration frameworks.
· Power Platform governance patterns (Power Automate, Power Apps, CoE).
· Experience in regulated environments (SOX, ISO, etc.).
Success Measures
· Migration completion against milestone dates with reduced post-cutover defects.
· Reduced sprawl and improved governance adherence (ownership, naming, lifecycle).
· Security/compliance controls implemented with minimal business disruption.
