VMware Professional Services Worldwide Center Engineering is a global engineering organization, developing custom solutions, primarily automations and integrations of the VMware products with 3rd party systems to provide E2E solutions and brings additional capabilities to existing products and services. Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Sales Engagement & Scoping
- Actively participate in pre-sales calls, customer workshops, and RFP responses to define solution scope and estimate effort.
- End-to-End Solution Ownership
- Own the full technical solution lifecycle from concept and architecture through delivery and handover.
- Create and Review Architecture Artifacts
- Design and document High-Level and Low-Level Architecture (HLD/LLD), and ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
- Governance and Standards
- Define, enforce, and promote architectural and coding standards, design patterns, and reusable frameworks across projects.
- Strategic Technical Advisor
- Act as a trusted advisor to customer, providing long-term vision and roadmap alignment.
- Technical Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks early in the project lifecycle through proactive planning.
- Mentorship & Talent Development
- Mentor Senior Consultants and development teams; help build team capability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration at Scale
- Collaborate with multiple internal and external teams to align architecture with business and delivery goals across geographies.
- Thought Leadership
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, white papers, reference architectures, and VMware’s thought leadership initiatives.
- Solution Validation & Quality Assurance
- Perform final validation and sign-off on technical solutions before deployment; ensure scalability and maintainability.
- Cloud Platform Expertise
- Demonstrate good understanding of multiple public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their native services, reference architectures, and integration models. Capable of designing hybrid and multi-cloud solutions leveraging VMware and cloud-native technologies.
- Work as part of a global Cloud Automation Consulting Team on large enterprise engagements independently.
- Get familiar with VMware Cloud portfolio in respect to automation, orchestration, and extensibility
- Interacting directly with customers, lead demos and participate in scoping workshops
- Leading technical workshops with customers, gathering requirements and consult customer for best practices
- Lead development teams, create solution designs, improve and apply best practices
- Proactive individual & own team enablement & knowledge strengthening
- Establish and enforce standards for high quality, maintainability and reusability of source code components, libraries, and solutions
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Delivery Managers & PMO
- Innovate and implement services for custom automation and integration solutions
- Independently manage stakeholders & partners in project engagements
Communicate at all levels
Skill Requirements
You will be designing and building backend solutions most of which are based on TypeScript and/or object-oriented JavaScript. Those are to be used in large-scale data centers (think millions of virtual machines). For Linux OS-level configuration, you will be using Ansible, Bash. For Windows – PowerShell. With infrastructure as code principles you will be engineering CI/CD pipelines, automated workflows, and services such as load balancer as a service, database as a service, … anything as a service.
From a team management aspect, you will work within a cross-team of architects, PMs, technical writers, quality or system engineers to ensure high quality, on time and in-budget deliverables.
You are expected to be among the strongest voices on technical topics on pre-sales calls and technical discussions with the customer. You will have the opportunity to create and present low level-designs that might involve event-driven architectures; message brokers; micro and nano-services. Being the leading example in your team, your role will also involve as well taking part in technical interviews and mentoring senior developers.

Other Requirements
We hire people from various development backgrounds: Java, .NET, Python, NodeJS. It is not the language but the seniority what matters to us.
A great advantage for the candidate would be the possession of infrastructure and networking skills or experience.
You will act as an technical architect to the customer by understanding and fulfilling their requirements, while communicating clearly (in English and Dutch) developers, DevOps, quality engineers project managers, and technical writers. Your solutions should be following the latest best development practices.
Knowledgeable with VKS and VCF9 as you will work primary with those.
Additional skills that may also be considered an advantage:
• Understanding of virtual IT production data center
• Experience with networking, firewalls and load balancers
• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Experience with Active Directory, databases, backup and IPAM systems

We have teams that work for EMEA, Americas, and Asia Pacific/Japan. Each geography is having an engineering manager with over 10 years of experience on average in leadership. Prior to joining CoE our managers have worked in other R&D units of VMware or as leaders of world class IT companies.
