Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP EAM Functional Lead to join our Aerospace & Defense (A&D) consulting practice. This senior-level role is responsible for leading end-to-end SAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) implementations, with a specific focus on the unique operational, compliance, and sustainment requirements of the A&D industry. The successful candidate will serve as the primary EAM subject matter expert, driving solution design, team leadership, and client engagement across complex, multi-disciplinary programs.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Workshop Facilitation

  • Plan and execute SAP Plant Maintenance / EAM implementation, development, and support activities across the full project lifecycle.
  • Lead design workshops and fit-gap sessions to capture and analyze A&D-specific customer requirements, including MRO, fleet maintenance, serialized equipment, and compliance needs.
  • Translate client requirements into detailed functional specification documents, solution blueprints, and configuration guides.
  • Configure the SAP system and lead unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Apply SAP and industry best practices to resolve conflicting requirements and recommend optimal solutions for A&D operational contexts.

Team Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead and mentor the EAM functional team, coordinating activities across workstreams and project phases.
  • Drive a multi-disciplinary group including members from all Lines of Business to achieve required project outcomes.
  • Maintain a proven customer-facing delivery track record, managing client expectations and ensuring on-time, on-scope delivery.
  • Creatively leverage experience from prior client engagements to accelerate process design and solution reuse.

Stakeholder & Senior Management Engagement

  • Maintain senior management interest and buy-in throughout the project lifecycle, providing clear progress updates, challenge, and pace.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to client leadership, helping identify best-practice solutions and navigating complex organizational dynamics.
  • Proactively build and share knowledge — both internally and externally — to stay current with SAP EAM developments, A&D industry trends, and regulatory changes.
  • Deliver complex EAM solutions across diverse A&D sub-sectors (aviation, defense manufacturing, MRO service providers).

Certifications

  • SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP S/4HANA Asset Management (or equivalent PM/EAM certification) is a strong advantage.
  • Additional certifications in SAP Activate, SAP Intelligent Asset Management, or A&D-related SAP solutions are beneficial.

Skill Requirements

SAP S/4HANA Plant Maintenance & Asset Management Configuration

  • Hands-on configuration expertise in SAP S/4HANA Plant Maintenance (PM) / Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), including:
    • PM Master Data: Functional Locations, Equipment Masters, Bills of Material (BOMs), Task Lists, Measurement Points & Counters, Work Centers, Maintenance Plans
    • Maintenance Planning & Scheduling: Time-based and counter-based maintenance plans, scheduling parameters, call horizons, cycle tolerances, and maintenance strategies
    • Mobile Maintenance Execution: Configuration and deployment of mobile EAM solutions including SAP Service and Asset Manager / SAP Asset Manager
    • Condition-Based & Predictive Maintenance: Leveraging SAP Intelligent Asset Management capabilities including SAP Asset Performance Management (APM) and IoT integration
    • Refurbishment of Components and Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MRO) processes
    • Notification Management: Notification types, status profiles, damage/cause codes, failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), and activity catalogs
    • Work Order Management: Order types, operations, confirmations, settlement rules, partner functions, and maintenance workflows

SAP Fiori & User Experience

  • Proven experience implementing SAP S/4HANA with Fiori Tiles for EAM roles, including Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Technician, and Resource Scheduling personas
  • Ability to design and deploy Fiori launchpad configurations and role-based access aligned to client operating structures

Integration Expertise

  • Strong understanding of EAM integration with:
    • MM (Materials Management – spare parts, reservations, external procurement, MRO stockroom)
    • QM (Quality Management)
    • PP (Production Planning)
    • SD (Sales & Distribution)
    • FI/CO (Financial Accounting & Controlling – settlement, cost centers, asset accounting)
    • WM/EWM (Warehouse/Extended Warehouse Management)
    • PS (Project Systems – capital projects)
    • PLM (Product Lifecycle Management – engineering systems, CAD integration)
  • Awareness of integration with defense logistics systems, third-party MRO tools, and engineering/CAD platforms

SAP Intelligent Asset Management

  • Knowledge of the SAP Intelligent Asset Management suite, including:
    • SAP Asset Performance Management (APM) – risk & criticality assessments, RCM, FMEA
    • SAP Asset Intelligence Network (AIN)
    • SAP Service and Asset Manager
    • SAP S/4HANA Asset Management for Resource Scheduling
    • SAP Field Service Management
    • SAP Integrated Business Planning for MRO
    • SAP Business Network for Asset Collaboration

Methodology

  • Proficiency in SAP Activate methodology and/or Agile (SAFe) development methods
  • Experience with SAP Best Practices for S/4HANA and fit-to-standard workshop facilitation

Other Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years of relevant SAP EAM / Plant Maintenance consulting experience in asset-intensive industries.
  • At least 6 full end-to-end SAP EAM implementation projects, with additional experience in SAP deployments, upgrades, and rollouts.
  • Demonstrated domain expertise in Aerospace & Defense, including familiarity with:
    • Depot-level and line maintenance models
    • Fleet maintenance, serialized equipment, and configuration control
    • Defense sustainment, overhaul & refurbishment, and compliance-driven asset tracking
    • Government and customer-owned property management, UID tracking, and audit readiness
  • Strong background in Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) business processes within asset-intensive industries.
  • Experience working in regulated, compliance-driven environments aligned with A&D standards and defense procurement cycles.

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
