Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced MEP Operations Lead to lead the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the electrical and associated mechanical infrastructure of a large-scale AI Data Center campus in Odisha. The role will have primary accountability for critical electrical systems while providing integrated leadership across cooling, fire protection, controls, water systems and other MEP services required to maintain continuous data center operations.
The position will lead shift operations, maintenance planning, operating procedures, incident response, change control, vendor management, capacity monitoring and operational readiness. The successful candidate must have deep hands-on experience with mission-critical electrical infrastructure and sufficient multidisciplinary knowledge to coordinate high-density AI cooling systems, controls and facility operations under normal, maintenance and emergency conditions.
Key Responsibilities
MEP Operations Leadership Lead 24x7 MEP operations for the AI Data Center campus, with primary accountability for electrical reliability and operational safety. Manage facility engineers, shift teams, technicians, OEM representatives and specialist service providers. Establish clear operating roles, shift coverage, escalation paths, duty rosters and management-on-call arrangements. Ensure critical systems are operated within approved limits, redundancy requirements and tenant service commitments. Coordinate daily operations across electrical, mechanical, controls, fire protection, water and building systems. Provide timely operational-risk, capacity, maintenance and incident updates to site leadership. 2. Critical Electrical Systems - Mandatory Core Scope Lead operation and maintenance of utility supplies, substations, transformers, MV/LV switchgear, generators, UPS systems, batteries, ATS/STS systems, PDUs, RPPs and busways. Maintain the approved electrical operating philosophy, single-line diagrams, switching boundaries and redundancy configurations. Ensure safe switching, isolation, LOTO, energization, synchronization and restoration procedures are followed. Monitor loading, voltage, current, power quality, harmonic performance, battery health and equipment alarms. Coordinate planned and emergency operation of generators, fuel systems, UPS systems and critical power paths. Investigate electrical abnormalities, trips, protection operations and capacity constraints and drive corrective actions. 3. Mechanical and Cooling Operations Coordinate operation of direct liquid cooling systems, CDUs, technology cooling loops, dry coolers, chillers, pumps, heat exchangers, HVAC and ventilation systems. Ensure cooling systems maintain required supply temperature, flow, pressure, water quality and redundancy for high-density AI workloads. Monitor cooling performance, environmental conditions and interactions between IT load, electrical demand and heat rejection. Coordinate maintenance, flushing, filtration, chemical treatment and leak-response activities with mechanical specialists. Ensure electrical supplies, controls and emergency-response logic for cooling systems are maintained and tested. Support prioritization and controlled load management during degraded cooling or power conditions. 4. Standard Operating Procedures and Control of Work Develop, review and maintain standard operating procedures, methods of procedure, emergency operating procedures and checklists. Ensure all high-risk and critical work is planned, reviewed, approved and executed through formal control-of-work processes. Lead technical review of switching plans, shutdown plans, maintenance procedures and rollback arrangements. Implement permit-to-work, LOTO, access control and simultaneous-operations requirements in coordination with EHS and Security. Ensure pre-job briefings, peer checks, verification steps and post-work restoration checks are completed. Prevent unauthorized field changes or departures from approved operating procedures. 5. Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Develop and maintain preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance programs for MEP assets. Align maintenance frequencies with OEM recommendations, operating experience, asset criticality and regulatory requirements. Plan maintenance windows while preserving required redundancy and minimizing operational risk. Monitor thermography, oil tests, battery tests, vibration, water quality, insulation resistance and other condition-monitoring results. Ensure defects, overdue maintenance and temporary repairs are risk-assessed and tracked to permanent closure. Use maintenance data and failure history to improve reliability and optimize lifecycle cost. 6. Incident Response and Root-Cause Management Lead initial technical response to power, cooling, controls, fire-system and other MEP incidents. Stabilize affected systems, protect personnel and critical IT load, and activate escalation procedure
