Java Microservices + Kafka Engineer – Job Description

Role Summary

A skilled Java Microservices Developer with strong experience in Kafka, Spring Boot, and cloud-native application development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting scalable, event-driven microservices architectures for enterprise applications. Experience with distributed systems, REST APIs, and Agile delivery is essential.  5-10 years of software development experience and Strong proficiency in Java and Core Java concepts. Strong experience in Microservices Architecture and REST API development. Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on Microservices and Kafka experience.

Java 17

Spring Boot

Dependency Injection, Spring Bean Lifecycle, Auto wiring, Annotations, AOP, Spring Boot features, initializers, starters, autoconfiguration, profile, etc

Kafka, EMS, ActiveMQ and/or IBM MQ

Messaging Queues, Kafka

MVC/ REST

Spring MVC Flow,  REST architecture, resources, HTTP methods and usage, URI mappings, Securing endpoints, Json mapping, attribute validation

JPA(ORM) / Spring Data JPA

Concepts of ORM, mapping entities and relationships, JPA repository, CRUD methods, other Data JPA features like pagination, sorting, etc.

Unit Testing

Need for unit testing, test cases, frameworks like Junit / Mockito

DevOps

Maven, GIT, Jenkins, SonarQube, Docker & Kubernetes, CICD Pipeline

Agile

Scrum, Sprints, Refinement, Review, Estimation

Microservices

Design patterns like API Gateway, Service discovery, Circuit breaker etc.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design and develop efficient and scalable applications using spring boot and kafka.
2. Implement and integrate kafka messaging platform for real-time data processing.
3. Collaborate with cross functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
4. Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in the applications built on spring boot and kafka.
5. Ensure adherence to best practices in coding, testing, and deployment processes.
6. Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in spring boot and kafka technologies.

Skill Requirements

1. Proficient in spring boot framework for building enterprise level applications.
2. Strong expertise in kafka for building real-time data processing systems.
3. Handson experience with microservices architecture and restful apis.
4. Knowledge of java programming language for backend development.
5. Familiarity with cloud platforms like aws or azure for deploying spring boot and kafka applications.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Other Requirements

1.Certification in Spring Framework or Apache Kafka is a plus.
