Job Summary
Linux Admin : The Linux System Administrator (L2) is responsible for delivering end‑to‑end operational administration of Linux servers across on‑premises and cloud environments under a managed services model. The role holds primary responsibility and accountability (R, A) for day‑to‑day Linux system operations in accordance with agreed standards, security controls, and service level commitments, while coordinating closely with customer stakeholders for approvals and inputs where required.\r\nThis role manages the complete Linux server lifecycle, including health monitoring, incident and problem management, change execution, user administration, boot and firmware management, storage and filesystem administration, and backup and restore operations. The administrator ensures proactive system stability by defining monitoring thresholds, performing recurring health checks, and resolving issues related to OS packages, performance, storage, and high availability environments.\r\nThe position also supports infrastructure services such as NIS, DNS, HA clusters, and networking configuration, manages server builds and decommissioning, and ensures reliable backup executions across enterprise platforms. Working with hardware vendors, backup teams, and internal infrastructure groups, the Linux System Administrator (L2) plays a critical role in maintaining availability, operational integrity, and compliance of enterprise Linux environments under a structured ITIL‑aligned service delivery model.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide L2 operational administration and support for Linux servers.\r\n• Monitor system health, performance, and capacity; perform proactive health checks.\r\n• Handle incidents, service requests, and problem tickets within defined SLAs.\r\n• Execute approved changes including patching, OS tuning, and configuration updates.\r\n• Administer Linux user/group management, permissions, and access controls.\r\n• Manage filesystems, disk partitions, LVM, and storage resizing activities.\r\n• Support Linux boot process, kernel parameters, and system services.\r\n• Administer DNS, NIS, and authentication-related configurations.\r\n• Support High Availability (HA) environments and perform node administration.\r\n• Build, rebuild, and decommission Linux servers as per standard operating procedures.\r\n• Perform backup and restore operations and support backup tool integrations.\r\n• Coordinate with vendors, infrastructure teams, and customers for issue resolution.\r\n• Maintain SOPs, operational documentation, and audit evidence.\r\n
Skill Requirements
Hands-on experience administering Linux systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or equivalent).\r\n• Good understanding of Linux OS internals, boot process, filesystems, and package management.\r\n• Experience with LVM, storage management, and system troubleshooting.\r\n• Knowledge of ITIL processes such as Incident, Change, and Problem Management.\r\n• Experience working in enterprise or managed services environments.\r\n• Willingness to work in shifts and on-call support models.\r\nQualification –\r\nB-Tech or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field\r\n
