Job Summary
Migration Engineer (VDI) (L2) Role Summary We are looking for L2 VDI Migration Engineers to execute the migration of users, images, applications and profiles from the customer\'s on-premises Citrix environment to Azure-hosted VDI under Lot 3. Working to the architect\'s design and runbooks, the engineers will build the target environment, run migration waves end-to-end, resolve migration issues and hand over a documented, stable service to BAU.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Discovery & inventory: Collect and validate Citrix inventory — machine catalogs, delivery groups, published applications, policies, user-to-application mapping — using the Citrix PowerShell SDK and assessment tooling; keep the migration tracker accurate. Target environment build: Deploy VDAs / session hosts on Azure as per the LLD — MCS machine catalogs or AVD host pools, domain join, VDA installation, Citrix / GPO policies and WEM configuration. Golden images & applications: Build and update golden images, install and smoke-test applications, support application packaging (MSIX / App-V / App Layering) and coordinate UAT with application owners. Profile migration: Migrate user profiles from Citrix UPM / roaming profiles to FSLogix containers; configure Azure Files permissions and validate profile integrity post-migration. Wave execution: Run migration waves — pre-migration checks, user and group assignment, user communications, cutover, hypercare support and rollback when required. Testing & validation: Carry out functional, performance, printing, peripheral and Microsoft Teams optimisation (HDX / multimedia redirection) testing; record results and defects. Troubleshooting: Resolve migration issues — VDA registration, logon and profile problems, application compatibility, StoreFront / Workspace access, network latency — and escalate design gaps to the architect. Automation: Write and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate bulk build, assignment, validation and reporting tasks. Documentation & handover: Update runbooks, as-built documentation and known-error records; support knowledge transfer and handover to the BAU operations team. Migration windows: Work in planned migration and change windows, including off-hours and weekends as per the wave plan.
