Sr Administrator (Support & Operations)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced DB2 LUW Database Administrator (DBA) responsible for the installation, administration, performance tuning, availability, security, and reliability of IBM DB2 LUW databases across development, test, and production environments. The DBA will work closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure optimal database performance and high availability.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration • Install, configure, and upgrade IBM DB2 LUW instances and databases • Perform instance management (db2icreate, db2idrop, db2ilist) • Manage Database backups, file system utilization • Manage database objects (tables, indexes, views, sequences, routines) ________________________________________ Performance Monitoring & Tuning • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues • Analyze SQL performance using EXPLAIN, db2pd, mon_get views • Tune memory (buffer pools, sort heap, locklist, log buffers) ________________________________________ Backup, Recovery & DR • Implement and manage online/offline backups • Perform restore, rollforward, and point in time recovery • Set up and manage HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery) • Participate in DR drills and failover testing • Support database auditing and compliance requirements ________________________________________ Automation & Maintenance • Automate routine DBA tasks using shell scripts • Schedule and monitor maintenance activities ________________________________________ Troubleshooting & Support • Diagnosing and resolving production incidents • Analyze db2diag.log and DB2 error codes • Coordinate with application, OS, and storage teams • Provide 24x7 on call support when required ________________________________________ Documentation & Standards • Maintain DB2 standards, procedures, and runbooks • Document configuration, processes, and known issues • Participate in architecture and design reviews

Skill Requirements

DB2 LUW • Strong experience with DB2 LUW 11.1 / 11.5 / 12.1 • In depth knowledge of Fixpack Upgrade, Version Upgrade, New Server Builds • Experience with HADR, HADR with TSA and HADR with Pacemaker • Proficiency in SQL and DB2 utilities Operating Systems • Linux (RHEL 8 and RHEL 9) and AIX (7.2, 7.3) • Shell scripting (bash / ksh) • Experience with monitoring tools (IBM DMC)
