Job Summary

Job Summary : Database Administration • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments. • Manage SQL Server instances across Development, UAT, and Production environments. • Perform database migrations, upgrades, and consolidation activities. • Monitor database health, availability, and performance. High Availability & Disaster Recovery • Design, implement, and support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions. • Administer and troubleshoot: o Always On Availability Groups o Failover Clustering o Log Shipping o Database Mirroring o Replication • Execute planned and unplanned failover/failback activities. • Conduct regular DR drills and disaster recovery testing. • Maintain DR documentation and recovery procedures. SQL Server Patching & Upgrades • Plan and execute SQL Server patching activities. • Perform security updates, cumulative updates, and service pack installations. • Validate database functionality after patch deployment. • Ensure compliance with organizational patching standards. Backup & Recovery • Configure and manage backup strategies. • Perform database restoration and recovery during incidents. • Regularly validate backup integrity and recovery readiness. • Implement automated backup monitoring and reporting. Performance Tuning & Optimization • Analyze and resolve database performance bottlenecks. • Optimize SQL Queries, Stored Procedures, Indexes, and Execution Plans. • Monitor resource utilization including CPU, Memory, Storage, and I/O. • Perform capacity planning and database growth management. Security & Compliance • Implement database security best practices. • Manage user access, roles, permissions, and auditing. • Support vulnerability remediation and compliance requirements. • Ensure data protection and database hardening standards are followed. Production Support • Provide L2/L3 database support for critical production systems. • Participate in on-call support and major incident management. • Troubleshoot database-related outages and service degradation issues. • Coordinate with Infrastructure, Application, and Cloud teams. Automation & Scripting • Automate routine DBA activities using PowerShell and T-SQL. • Develop monitoring and maintenance scripts. • Improve operational efficiency through automation initiatives. Key Responsibilities
