Job Summary

Storage L1 - Commvault, Host-Based Cloud Backup (HCBU), Azure Storage/Backup, GCP Storage/Backup, SA

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: Routine Backup Monitoring: Conduct 24x7 continuous monitoring of scheduled backup jobs and storage health across enterprise hybrid environments (Azure: 1,641 TB Storage / 277 TB Backup; GCP: 380 TB Object Storage / 2,478 GB Backup; Datacenter Servers). Initial Troubleshooting & Remediation: Perform initial L1 response and standard recovery actions for failed or hung backup jobs (e.g., clearing job queues, restarting backup services, verifying network/agent connectivity). Restoration Requests: Execute standard day-to-day data restore requests (file-level, folder-level, and standard VM restores) following predefined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ticket Management & Escalation: Log, categorize, and update tickets in the ITIL ticketing system; escalate unresolved or complex P1/P2 storage and backup issues to L2/L3 engineers within defined SLAs. Storage Health Checks: Perform daily health checks on backup agents, media servers, and cloud storage repositories to verify threshold limits and storage utilization. Media & Retention Management: Assist with basic backup lifecycle tasks, retention policy tracking, and media management as required by operational compliance.

Skill Requirements

Technical: Basic operational experience with enterprise backup platforms (e.g., Commvault, Azure Backup, or GCP Backup). Fundamental understanding of storage types: Block, File, and Object Storage (Azure Blob, GCP Object Storage, SAN/NAS). Practical knowledge of Windows Server and Linux command-line interface for service checks, disk checks, and file browsing. Basic understanding of virtualization (VMware ESXi, Azure/GCP Virtual Machines) in relation to snapshot and backup workflows. Non-Technical Familiarity with ITIL core concepts (Incident, Service Request, and Ticket SLA tracking). Willingness to work in a continuous 24x7 rotational shift pattern (including night shifts and weekends). Good to Have Skills: Exposure to basic scripting (PowerShell / Bash) for automated status checking. Exposure to database backup concepts (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle). Awareness of tape/media management and offsite replication routines. Soft Skills: Clear written and verbal technical communication skills for shift handovers and ticket updates. Disciplined approach to following detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ability to stay focused and organized during peak event or incident windows.
