Job Summary

The Data Center Facility Operations Manager is responsible for end‑to‑end operational availability, safety, and compliance of data center facilities. This role owns day‑to‑day facility operations and ensures that power, cooling, environmental, and physical infrastructure systems operate reliably to support uninterrupted IT services. The manager leads onsite and centralized operations teams, coordinates vendors and OEMs, enforces standard operating procedures, and drives continuous improvement across all facility operations.

The role carries full accountability for facility uptime, incident and emergency response, preventive maintenance execution, regulatory compliance, and service delivery governance across current, intermediate, and future modes of operation, including transition to DCIM‑based monitoring and ITSM‑integrated workflows

• Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center technicians and operators

• Routinely review ticket queue for large events and address accordingly

• Coordinate change management resources

• Guide, train, and educate data operations technicians on the best practices related to all service owner issues

• Manage and deliver mid-size projects

• Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and to meet required SLAs

• Manage a diverse team of data technicians with varying skills

• Provide weekly report to the data center cluster manager

• Maintain the on-call schedule coordinating absence and vacations

• Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels

• Host weekly staff meetings

• Write and deliver performance reviews for staff

Skill Requirements

Design and Manage the data centre floor layout.

Manages and control installation of Racks, PDU's and Cable trays.

Manage capacity reports, space, power, cooling and secure electrical and cooling for capacity planning. 

Manage DC airflows.

Responsible for power balancing within racks.

Take ownership of business critical environmental facility and service outages.

Review all the work permits issues for support venders, M&E and IT or cabling vendor are as per approval of RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements) for hot works in facility.

Owner of DC processes & procedures.

Coordinate and Manage the internal and external DC facility audits.

Owner of all DC environmental changes.

Manage DC SLA's. if applicable

Manage DC M&E changes as per change management requirenment.

Managed customers DC inquires, complaints or escalations.

Secure that all the agreements are in place to cover and secure the data centre facility support equipment.

Provide specifications, requirements and forecasting for provisioning and planning of facilities management and cabling (e.g. power, HVAC, floor space and loading) as required to support installation of servers, storage and network equipment and other Hardware and equipment to be managed and/or monitored by the Service Provider.

Sucure and control the data center facility documentation as, floor layouts, rack diagrams, asset inventory lists, manuals, working descriptions emergency procedures, Technical recovery plan if accident   happens.

Coordinate with vendors for security system, VESDA, GAS suppression system maintenance, repair and supervise report of BMS (building monitoring system) and data center security systems.

Review and control the access of Data centre facilities.

Coordination with owner/caretaker/vender to facilitate fault resolution of facility operations equipment of any condition that might threaten the Data center.

Controls the Data Centre Facility to secure that it is nice and tidy and safe for hardware and personnel.

Supervises/Coordinate all the facility issues in case of an incident

Works with project managers to understand their projects requirement for floor space and power and responsible for assigning the right capacity to ensure proper electrical distributions with failover redundancy and future scalability options.

Work with designated salvage contractors to arrange and manage disposal of equipment in line with standards.

Provide advice on all aspects of Data Centre Facilities operations to ensure optimal use of all resources provided within the Data Centre Facilities, including floor space, power, HVAC and racks.

Participate in and support testing of safety systems located in data center.

Manage Access control system & authorize physical access to DC in accordance to access & security policy.
