Job Summary

The Platform Engineer is responsible for operational support, monitoring, administration, and incident response for Dollar General\'s Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment. This role provides day-to-day support for Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), cloud-native applications, cloud infrastructure services, monitoring platforms, and deployment operations. Primary Responsibilities GCP Platform Operations • Monitor and support production and non-production GCP environments. • Perform operational administration of GCP services and resources. • Support provisioning and configuration of cloud infrastructure using approved standards. • Troubleshoot cloud resource, connectivity, IAM, and service availability issues. • Assist with cloud platform upgrades and maintenance activities. • Support cloud migrations and new application onboarding efforts. Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) • Monitor GKE cluster health and performance. • Troubleshoot pods, deployments, namespaces, services, ingress controllers, and node-related issues. • Support workload deployments using established CI/CD pipelines. • Assist with cluster maintenance, upgrades, and patching activities. • Validate platform functionality following updates and maintenance windows. • Escalate complex platform issues to Senior and Principal Engineers. Incident Management & Operational Support • Respond to infrastructure and platform alerts. • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation as required. • Troubleshoot production incidents and service disruptions. • Perform initial root cause investigations. • Escalate unresolved issues according to support procedures. • Document remediation actions and incident outcomes. • Ensure issues are resolved within defined service level objectives. Monitoring & Observability • Monitor platform health using enterprise observability tools. • Review logs, dashboards, metrics, and alerts. • Support operational reporting and service reviews. • Identify performance issues and capacity concerns. • Assist with monitoring dashboard improvements. Infrastructure as Code & Automation • Execute infrastructure deployments using approved Terraform modules. • Support cloud automation efforts led by Senior Engineers. • Maintain existing infrastructure templates and deployment pipelines. • Create basic automation scripts to improve operational efficiency. • Participate in Git-based deployment workflows. Security & Compliance • Support cloud security best practices. • Assist with IAM role management and access reviews. • Support vulnerability remediation and platform patching. • Participate in compliance initiatives and security audits. • Follow established governance and operational standards.
