Job Summary
As a DWDM/SDH SW Cross- connect Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end configuration, circuit design, and commissioning of high-capacity optical networks. You will ensure the seamless delivery of services (Ethernet, SDH, and OTN) across multi-vendor environments, focusing on network modernization and migration.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Cross connect (Circuit Provisioning ) : Perform end-to-end provisioning of SDH (E1, STM-1/4/16/64) and DWDM/OTN (10G, 100G+) services using Network Management Systems (NMS)/EMS.
- Multi-Vendor Equipment Handling:
- Ciena: Hands-on configuration and commissioning of Ciena 6500..
- Fujitsu: Management and provisioning of Flashwave (7500/9500) series equipment.
- Ericsson: Configuration of Ericsson (OMS 870/860) Series Equipment.
- Testing & Commissioning: Execute BERT (Bit Error Rate Testing), RFC 2544 testing, and optical power level calibration for channel additions.
- Database Management: Maintain and update network inventory databases (e.g., CCM, Netcracker) to ensure accurate circuit records.
Technical Support: Collaborate with field technicians for hardware installation, fibre termination, and onsite troubleshooting.
Skill Requirements
- Experience: 3–8 years in optical transmission and provisioning.
- Technical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of DWDM principles (ROADM, amplifiers, mux/demux) and SDH hierarchies, Optical Fiber , L2/L3 Concepts.
- Familiarity with NMS/EMS platforms such as Ciena MCP/Site Manager, Fujitsu NETSMART, and Ericsson ENM.
- Protocols: Proficiency in TCP/IP, SNMP, and understanding of Layer 2/3 concepts like VLANs, BGP, and MPLS is highly preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field.
