Job Summary

The SAP Basis Administrator will be responsible for managing, monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise SAP landscapes with SAP HANA as the primary technology platform. The role requires strong hands-on experience in SAP Basis administration, SAP HANA database operations, system performance tuning, troubleshooting, upgrades, patching, transport management, and high-availability support. The position will work closely with functional, infrastructure, security, database, and application teams to ensure stable, secure, and efficient SAP operations supporting business-critical processes. To ensure on-time resolution of escalations/incidents through efficient analysis as per the SLA and quality norms and ensure positive customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

1. To ensure on-time resolution & quality compliance of escalated tickets/incident as per the agreed SLA
2. To perform value addition activities (such as mentoring administrators/team members, preparing SOPs, maintaining effective documentation simultaneously and Knowledge sharing.) In addition act as a liaison to the business segment, facilitating effective communication and presentation to key business stakeholders as & when required.
3. To validate Change Order Implementation Plan & Human Error Compliance and participate in Capacity planning
4. To ensure positive customer feedback & satisfaction through active participation in customer meetings to understand any issues faced
5. To validate analyses (eg. Root Cause Analysis ,Trend Analysis) and reports to facilitate performance in tasks to be presented to key business stakeholders

Skill Requirements

Strong hands-on experience in SAP Basis administration with SAP HANA as the primary database platform. • Good knowledge of SAP HANA Studio, SAP HANA Cockpit, HDBSQL, database monitoring, backup, recovery, system replication, and performance analysis. • Experience in managing SAP landscapes across development, quality, pre-production, disaster recovery, and production environments. • Working knowledge of SAP NetWeaver, SAP S/4HANA, ECC, BW, Fiori, Gateway, Solution Manager, and related SAP technical components. • Proficiency in SAP transport management, client administration, system copy, system refresh, kernel upgrades, support packages, and SAP notes implementation. • Understanding of operating systems such as Linux/Unix and Windows used for SAP application and database hosting. • Knowledge of database administration concepts including memory management, backup scheduling, recovery procedures, capacity planning, and performance tuning. • Ability to analyze SAP logs, dumps, traces, work processes, background jobs, spool issues, RFC connections, and interface failures. • Awareness of SAP security concepts, authorization basics, SSL certificates, SSO, user administration coordination, and compliance requirements. • Experience with monitoring and automation tools such as SAP Solution Manager, SAP Focused Run, third-party monitoring platforms, and scripting tools is preferred. • Good understanding of ITIL processes including incident, problem, change, release, and service request management. • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Other Requirements

 Install, configure, administer, and maintain SAP systems including SAP S/4HANA, ECC, BW, Solution Manager, Fiori, Gateway, and related SAP components. • Perform SAP HANA database administration activities including monitoring, backup and recovery, system replication, performance tuning, database upgrades, and troubleshooting. • Monitor SAP system health, availability, logs, background jobs, interfaces, work processes, memory utilization, dumps, and performance metrics on a regular basis. • Manage SAP transport administration using TMS, ensuring controlled movement of changes across development, quality, pre-production, and production systems. • Plan and execute SAP kernel upgrades, support package stack updates, add-on installations, SAP notes implementation, and patch management activities. • Perform client administration tasks such as client creation, client copy, client export/import, system refresh, and post-refresh validation activities. • Support SAP HANA high availability, disaster recovery, backup validation, restore testing, and business continuity readiness. • Troubleshoot complex SAP Basis, SAP HANA, OS, connectivity, RFC, spool, batch job, and interface-related issues within agreed service levels. • Coordinate with infrastructure, network, security, database, and functional teams for incident resolution, change implementation, upgrades, and project delivery. • Maintain SAP security basics including user administration support, roles coordination, system parameters, certificates, SSO integration, and audit readiness. • Create and maintain technical documentation including system landscape diagrams, runbooks, SOPs, change records, configuration documents, and operational procedures. • Participate in production support, planned maintenance, on-call support, and major incident management as required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred. • Relevant SAP certifications such as SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP HANA, SAP S/4HANA System Administration, or SAP Basis Administration will be an added advantage. • Experience supporting enterprise SAP environments in 24x7 production operations is preferred. • Ability to work in shifts, weekends, planned maintenance windows, and on-call support based on business requirements. • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across technical, functional, vendor, and business teams. • Ability to follow standard operating procedures, change governance, audit controls, and security compliance requirements. • Exposure to cloud-hosted SAP environments such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, SAP RISE, or SAP BTP is desirable. • Proactive mindset with focus on system stability, performance improvement, automation, risk reduction, and continuous service improvement.
