Job Summary
We are seeking a Grafana Subject Matter Expert to lead the architectural design and development of our Network Operations visualization layer. This role is not about building basic charts; it is about engineering a high-performance observability interface. You will be responsible for transforming complex, multi-vendor network telemetry into bespoke, custom-coded visualizations that provide immediate operational clarity on global connectivity, health, and service stability.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities· Bespoke Visualization Development: Lead the design and implementation of custom Grafana panels using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Develop high-density visual components (e.g., telemetry blades, status matrices, and flow diagrams) that exceed the limitations of standard library widgets.· Advanced Data Orchestration: Architect complex queries (SQL/SWQL/PromQL) to aggregate disparate data points into unified health indicators. Focus on multi-table joins and sub-query optimization to ensure real-time dashboard performance.· Operational Logic Engineering: Program intelligent status logic into the visualization layer to roll up hardware health, connectivity metrics, and protocol statuses into intuitive "at-a-glance" indicators.· Theme-Aware Interface Design: Develop and maintain a fully adaptive UI supporting both Light and Dark modes. Ensure high-contrast visibility and consistent branding across all monitoring layers to support 24/7 operations.· Maintenance & Lifecycle Awareness: Design dashboards that intelligently reflect operational states, such as distinguishes between active critical failures and planned maintenance (handling muted alerts and unmanaged states).· Performance & Stability Optimization: Resolve complex front-end rendering challenges, ensuring dashboards remain performant under high-frequency data refreshes and avoiding browser-level rendering errors.
Skill Requirements
Required Skills & Experience
· Advanced Grafana SME: Proven track record of deploying sophisticated dashboard architectures and leveraging advanced plugins for custom DOM manipulation.· The "Developer" Mindset: Mastery of Modern CSS (Flexbox, Grid, Variables, Glassmorphism) and JavaScript for dynamic data binding and custom visual effects.· Complex Query Mastery: Expert-level ability to query and manipulate data from enterprise monitoring platforms (like SolarWinds, Prometheus, or InfluxDB) using advanced SQL/SWQL.· Network Infrastructure Fundamentals: Solid understanding of network telemetry including BGP status, interface utilization, packet loss, and error/discard analysis.· UX for Operations: Strong skills in information hierarchy—knowing how to use color, glow, and layout to highlight critical alerts in a high-density environment.
Other Requirements
Preferred Qualifications· Custom Plugin Development: Experience extending Grafana’s capabilities through custom code or advanced community plugins.· NOC Environment Experience: Background in building monitoring tools specifically for global Network Operations Centers where data speed and clarity are paramount.· Observability Architecture: Familiarity with the broader observability stack (Metrics, Logs, Traces) and how to correlate them visually.
