Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

 Job Description Description : Role Scope : - Provide end-to-end support and administration of IBM AIX systems at enterprise scale. - Act as the final escalation point (L3) for incidents, problems, and performance issues. - Lead migration, patching, and modernization projects involving AIX and Power Systems. - Ensure systems are audit-ready, compliant, and resilient across production and DR environments. Core Responsibilities : 1. System Administration : - Install, configure, and maintain AIX operating systems on IBM Power servers. - Manage LPARs, VIO servers, and HMC consoles. - Perform kernel tuning, patching, and upgrades. 2. Performance & Troubleshooting : - Analyze logs, dumps, and performance metrics. - Resolve escalated incidents (disk, CPU, memory, network bottlenecks). - Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes. 3. Storage & Backup Integration : - Configure SAN connectivity, multipathing, and volume groups. - Integrate with enterprise backup solutions (TSM, NetBackup). 4. Security & Compliance : - Apply hardening standards (CIS, enterprise baselines). - Manage RBAC, sudo policies, and audit trails. - Ensure patch compliance and vulnerability remediation. 5. Automation & Scripting : - Develop Korn shell, Bash, or Python scripts for automation. - Streamline routine tasks (user provisioning, monitoring, reporting). 6. Disaster Recovery & High Availability : - Configure PowerHA clusters for failover. - Participate in DR drills and ensure RTO/RPO compliance. 7. Project & Migration Work : - Lead OS migrations, hardware refresh, and cloud integration (where applicable). - Document runbooks, SOPs, and architecture diagrams. 8. Collaboration : - Work closely with DBAs, application teams, and network engineers. - Provide technical guidance to L1/L2 teams. - Participate in vendor coordination with IBM support. Required Skills & Experience : - 10+ years of experience in AIX administration, with at least 5 years in L3 support. - Strong expertise in LPAR/VIO/HMC management. - Hands-on with PowerHA clustering and SAN storage integration. - Proficiency in scripting (Korn shell, Bash, Python). - Knowledge of security hardening, compliance frameworks, and audit readiness. - Experience in incident, problem, and change management (ITIL framework). Preferred Certifications : - IBM Certified System Administrator - AIX - Red Hat/Linux certifications (for cross-platform exposure) - ITIL Foundation or higher
