Job Summary

Skilled Power BI Architect with strong expertise in designing and implementing semantic layers within the GCP Platform (Power BI + PowerApps). The role involves building scalable BI architecture, enabling data abstraction layers, and delivering robust analytics solutions for enterprise use. Key Responsibilities 1. Semantic Layer Architecture Design and build enterprise semantic data layers to enable reusable, governed datasets across Power BI and PowerApps. Define logical data models that abstract underlying data complexities and support business-friendly consumption. Ensure semantic layer supports consistent KPIs, measures, and business definitions across applications. 2. Power BI & PowerApps Integration Architect integration between Power BI datasets and PowerApps applications. Enable consumption of curated semantic models within PowerApps for operational apps and workflows. Design scalable data access patterns for low-code/no-code applications. 3. Data Modeling & Development Lead development of complex data models using Power Query, DAX, and tabular modeling. Implement optimized modeling techniques (star/snowflake schema) for performance and scalability. Build reusable dataflows and datasets supporting enterprise reporting. 4. Data Architecture & Integration Define end-to-end BI architecture including ingestion, transformation, modeling, and visualization. Integrate Power BI with enterprise data platforms (SQL, APIs, cloud services). Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to align semantic layer with upstream pipelines. 5. Governance, Security & Compliance Establish governance framework for: Dataset reuse and certification Data access and security (RLS/OLS) Data quality and lineage Manage user roles, permissions, and access policies. Enforce best practices for data sharing and report publishing. 6. Performance Optimization Optimize dataset performance through: Efficient DAX measures Aggregations and incremental refresh Monitor system health, usage, and performance metrics. 7. Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration Engage with business teams to translate requirements into scalable BI and app solutions. Provide technical leadership across Power BI developers, data engineers, and Power Platform teams. Define BI roadmap aligned with enterprise data strategy. 8. DevOps & Delivery Implement CI/CD pipelines for Power BI artifacts and Power Platform assets. Drive Agile delivery and continuous improvement practices. Required Skills & Experience

Experience

  • 8–12 years of IT experience with 5+ years in Power BI / Analytics architecture.
  • Proven experience in designing semantic layers / tabular models / enterprise datasets.

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in:
    • Power BI (Service, Desktop, Gateway)
    • DAX, Power Query, Tabular Models
    • Data warehouse and SQL concepts
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • PowerApps integration with Power BI datasets (semantic layer consumption)
    • Dataset management (dataflows, workspaces, gateways)
    • Cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
    • REST APIs and data integration patterns

Architecture & Governance

  • Strong understanding of:
    • BI architecture and semantic modeling
    • Data governance frameworks and security (RLS/OLS)
    • Data lifecycle and data access control

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and leadership
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
