Job Summary

Optical Design Engineering support

Responsibilities

● Conduct advanced optical system modeling and simulation.

● Non-sequential straylight simulation and analysis

● Drive the optical design and architecture of cutting-edge near-eye displays.

● Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Product Design teams to define specifications, manage tolerances, and ensure successful integration of simulated designs into mass-manufacturable hardware.

● Develop, maintain, and execute complex optical models using industry-standard software and internal Python-based tools for analysis and visualization.

Minimum Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.

● 4 years of experience in optical design and simulation for consumer electronics.

● Experience in optical simulation software (e.g., Zemax, Lighttools, CodeV).

● Experience leading technical projects and collaborating with executive cross-functional engineering teams to deliver objectives and timelines.

 

Preferred Qualifications

● Master’s or PhD degree in Optical / Mechanical engineering or a relevant technical field.

● Specialized experience in Augmented Reality (AR) design and bringing AR hardware to market.

● Proven proficiency in Python for automating optical simulations, data post-processing, and generating design reports.

● Familiarity with camera systems, sensors, and display technologies.

● Track record of successfully navigating ambiguity-driven design challenges in a fast-paced product development environment.

Minimum Salary (US):  95000

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies. In addition, this role is eligible for the following benefits subject to company policies: medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, life, accidental death & dismemberment, and disability insurance; employee assistance program; 401(k) retirement plan; 10 days of paid time off per year (some positions are eligible for need-based leave with no designated number of leave days per year); and 10 paid holidays per year.
