Job Description (JD) GitHub Engineer - Enterprise Platform & AI Tools Governance Job Title GitHub Engineer - Enterprise Platform & AI Tools Governance Total Experience 5-7 Years GitHub Experience Minimum 2+ Years Hands-on Experience Location Bengaluru / Noida Job Summary We are seeking a hands-on GitHub Engineer to support the administration, engineering, governance, security, and adoption of GitHub Enterprise across the organization. The individual will be responsible for designing and implementing GitHub governance standards, supporting GitHub Actions, GitHub Advanced Security, GitHub Copilot, repository management, automation, and developer enablement initiatives. In addition to GitHub responsibilities, the engineer will provide secondary support for enterprise AI platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Microsoft 365 Copilot, helping with platform administration, governance, security controls, user onboarding, adoption tracking, and operational support. The ideal candidate should possess strong practical GitHub expertise, automation skills, and a passion for improving developer productivity through secure and governed engineering practices. Key Responsibilities GitHub Enterprise Administration & Engineering Administer GitHub Enterprise organizations, repositories, teams, permissions, and enterprise settings. Manage repository lifecycle activities including creation, archival, ownership assignment, and governance compliance. Provide technical guidance for GitHub implementation and onboarding across engineering teams. Design and maintain organization structures, repository standards, and access control models. Support GitHub Enterprise feature adoption and continuous platform improvements. Troubleshoot GitHub-related issues and provide timely resolution. GitHub Governance & Security Implement and maintain GitHub governance standards across repositories and organizations. Configure branch protection rules, repository rulesets, pull request controls, and review requirements. Support implementation of secure development practices using GitHub controls. Manage GitHub Apps, OAuth applications, tokens, secrets, and integration permissions. Implement and support GitHub Advanced Security features including Secret Scanning, Push Protection, Dependabot, and Code Scanning. Support audit, compliance, and security review activities. Monitor platform usage and ensure adherence to enterprise policies. GitHub Actions, Automation & Developer Enablement Design, deploy, and support GitHub Actions workflows. Assist engineering teams in implementing CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions. Support self-hosted and GitHub-hosted runner configurations. Develop automation scripts using GitHub APIs, PowerShell, Python, and GitHub CLI. Integrate GitHub with Microsoft Entra ID, ServiceNow, Azure, and security or monitoring platforms. Create technical documentation, standards, and onboarding guides. Conduct user enablement sessions and developer support activities. GitHub Copilot Administration Support onboarding and administration of GitHub Copilot. Manage Copilot licenses and user assignments. Monitor adoption, utilization, and governance compliance. Assist engineering teams in identifying suitable GitHub Copilot use cases. Develop adoption dashboards and usage reporting. AI Tools Governance & Administration - Secondary Responsibility Assist in the administration and governance of ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude Enterprise, Gemini Enterprise, and Microsoft 365 Copilot. Support user onboarding, license assignment, access management, and reporting. Participate in security reviews, risk assessments, and compliance activities for AI platforms. Monitor platform usage and identify optimization opportunities. Support governance controls related to sensitive data usage and responsible AI practices. Preferred Experience
- 5-7 years of overall IT experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, Application Development, Developer Tools Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience working with GitHub Enterprise.
- Experience administering repositories, organizations, teams, permissions, and GitHub governance controls.
- Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions, workflow automation, and CI/CD implementation.
- Experience supporting GitHub Copilot deployment, administration, or governance.
- Familiarity with GitHub Advanced Security features such as Secret Scanning, Dependabot, Push Protection, and Code Scanning.
- Experience integrating GitHub with enterprise services such as Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, ServiceNow, or related platforms.
- Experience building automation using GitHub APIs, GitHub CLI, PowerShell, or Python.
- Working knowledge of one or more enterprise AI platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience supporting enterprise developer productivity and platform engineering initiatives.
