Technical Lead - MES Domain Specialization

Job Summary

The PSKU in Logistics and Production Planning serves as the primary operational and functional expert bridging daily manufacturing execution with SAP technical implementation. This role is responsible for managing SAP system capabilities across logistics and production, gathering business requirements, driving system enhancements through End-to-End User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and ensuring seamless integration with Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Business Control. 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project support

·        Understand as-is business processes and its execution in SAP and translate the business requirements to IT teams.

·        Act as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Key User for SAP modules covering Logistics and Production Planning (e.g., PP, MM, SD, WM/EWM).

·        Participate actively in process and system design discussions, evaluating proposed technical solutions to ensure they fit real-world manufacturing and logistics workflows.

  1. Requirements Gathering & UAT Management

·        Define, document, and prioritize business requirements for system changes, enhancements, and bug fixes.

·        Design end-to-end (E2E) User Acceptance Testing (UAT) test cases and scenarios covering full operational lifecycles.

·        Lead and execute UAT, validate testing results, and approve system builds before deployment to production. 

  1. Daily Operations & Execution

·        Oversee day-to-day operations within Logistics and Production Planning, ensuring smooth material flow, accurate inventory management, and alignment with production schedules.

·        Serve as the first line of support for operational teams when SAP-related issues or workflow bottlenecks arise.

  1. Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) & Forecasting

·        Contribute to the S&OP process, aligning demand forecasts with production capacity, material availability, and logistics constraints.

·        Ensure SAP system parameters (e.g., lead times, lot sizes, safety stock levels) accurately reflect actual manufacturing capabilities and strategic planning goals.

  1. Business Control & Financial Alignment

·        Collaborate closely with Business Control / Finance to maintain cost-effective logistics operations, monitor inventory valuation, and minimize write-offs or inefficiencies.

·        Ensure master data integrity (e.g., Bills of Materials, Routings, Work Centres) to support precise cost accounting and operational reporting

Skill Requirements

Technical Skills & SAP Expertise

  • Proficiency in SAP modules related to Production Planning (PP), Materials Management (MM), and Logistics/Warehouse Management (WM/EWM or SD).
  • Demonstrated experience writing business requirements documents (BRDs) and leading E2E UAT execution.
  • Strong understanding of S&OP frameworks, forecasting models, and supply chain metrics. 

Domain & Manufacturing Knowledge

  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, shop-floor routing, material flow, and warehousing practices.
  • Experience in aligning logistics operations with financial control and business control requirements. 

Soft Skills & Communication

  • Good ability to bridge the communication gap between business/operations teams and technical IT developers.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and process-mapping skills.
  • Ability to balance tactical, day-to-day operational duties with strategic system improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5 to max 10 years of hands-on experience in production planning, logistics execution, and SAP key-user roles.
