Job Summary

We are  looking for an experienced Software Quality Engineer to join our User Experience Engineering team. As a SQE in this role you will use your knowledge of web fundamentals such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (React and Node, primarily) to help our product teams implement UX designs. You will report to the Manager of UX Engineering. We hope you look forward to new challenges and are comfortable moving between different code bases and tech stacks while writing clear issue reports, test cases, and automated testing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and oversee the automated testing strategy for Ping’s internal front-end libraries, ensuring robust coverage across all components.

  • Collaborate with UX designers and engineers to define "Quality" from the start, providing estimates for testing complex interactions and accessibility requirements.

  • Audit product suites to ensure design integrity and functional consistency, serving as the final gatekeeper for UI quality.

  • Lead cross-browser and cross-platform testing initiatives, triaging regressions and debugging complex rendering issues.

  • Develop and maintain visual regression suites to catch unintended UI changes before they reach production.

  • Advocate for and implement Accessibility (A11y) standards, ensuring all products meet WCAG compliance through automated and manual auditing.

Skill Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Frontend Quality Engineering or Software Development in Test (SDET).

  • Expertise in modern testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Vitest, or Puppeteer).

  • Deep understanding of Web Accessibility (WCAG 2.1/2.2) and experience with tools like Axe, Screen Readers (NVDA/VoiceOver), and keyboard navigation testing.

  • Experience with Visual Regression tools (e.g., Percy, Applitools, or Chromatic).

  • Proficiency in CI/CD integration, ensuring quality gates are triggered automatically within the development pipeline.

  • Strong eye for usability, with the ability to conduct heuristic evaluations and identify friction in the user journey.

Other Requirements

  • Experience with Usability Testing methodologies and gathering qualitative feedback.

  • Knowledge of Performance Testing for the frontend (Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse CI).

  • Ability to write custom ESLint plugins or stylelint rules to enforce code quality and accessibility standards at the linting stage.

  • A proactive mindset for building internal tools that empower other developers to write more testable code.
