Job Summary
Knowledge Base: 4+ years' experience Cerner Software Engineer (Proficient in: CCL logic, Discern Expert Rules, Metadata Imports, Business Objects (Technical), CCL scripting, Discern Alerts)
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the day to day operations of IS Software Engineering within Clinical Applications including design, build, test and maintenance. Includes responsibility on how applications interrelate with other departmental applications.
- Write programs and procedures utilizing CCL language and tools: Cerner Millennium Discern Explorer (CCL), Cerner Millennium Discern Expert (Rules), Support Technically- Business Objects(Powerinsight).
- Exercises independent direction and judgement as it relates to building and creating new/Updating CCL reports and Discern Expert Rules.
- Responsible for system troubleshooting, implementations and software updates.
- Coordinates/leads tasks and projects departmentally/interdepartmentally to support IS Applications. This includes communication of status and risks to stakeholders as necessary.
- Conducts/oversees system testing and validation by development and maintenance of testing protocols, and coordinates testing with end users when applicable.
- Develops, follows and keeps updated documentation on support of the system as well as adheres to change management procedures.
- Actively maintains education and cross-training on all departmental areas of expertise.
Summary: The IS Software Engineer is responsible for the gathering, interpreting and utilizing of complex data to build CCL reports and Discern Expert Rules to maintain stable operations and ongoing improvement of IS Applications. These systems may include, but are not limited to, functionality to support clinical, fiscal, IS and business operations. This position works in a multi-disciplinary environment that requires excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities. The IS Software Engineer design system components, write specifications, build logic for CCL reports and Discern Expert Rules and create system level documentation.
