Job Summary

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Epic BMDI L2/L3 Analyst to provide production support, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of Epic Biomedical Device Integration solutions. The analyst will support the integration of biomedical and clinical devices with Epic and ensure reliable transmission of device and patient-related data into the clinical workflow.

Key Responsibilities

Production Support

Provide L2/L3 production support for Epic BMDI environments.

  • Monitor biomedical device integrations and identify connectivity or data-flow issues.
  • Troubleshoot device communication, interface, message, and integration failures.
  • Investigate missing, delayed, duplicated, or incorrect clinical device data.
  • Support critical incidents and participate in major incident resolution.
  • BMDI Troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot integration between biomedical devices and Epic.
  • Analyze device connectivity, interface logs, messages, queues, and error conditions.
  • Investigate HL7 and device integration issues.
  • Identify problems related to device configuration, mapping, routing, connectivity, or application configuration.
  • Coordinate with biomedical engineering, clinical teams, Epic teams, infrastructure teams, and device vendors.
  • Epic Integration
  • Support Epic BMDI integration with clinical workflows.
  • Work with Epic Bridges and other Epic integration components as required.
  • Validate patient/device association and data transmission.
  • Support interface testing and end-to-end validation.
  • Assist with Epic upgrades and BMDI-related changes.
  • Device & Vendor Coordination
  • Support integration of medical/biomedical devices and systems.
  • Coordinate with medical device vendors for connectivity and integration issues.
  • Participate in device onboarding, testing, validation, and production implementation.
  • Support troubleshooting across device, network, interface, and Epic application layers.
  • Maintenance & Enhancements
  • Support configuration changes and BMDI enhancements.
  • Perform testing and regression testing for device/interface changes.
  • Support production deployments and post-implementation validation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability and reduce recurring incidents.
  • Documentation & Service Management
  • Create and maintain BMDI SOPs, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge articles.
  • Perform RCA for recurring and high-impact incidents.
  • Participate in incident, problem, change, and release management.
  • Maintain accurate support documentation and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Epic BMDI Experience  – 5+ Must have .
  • 3–7+ years of healthcare IT/EHR integration experience.
  • Epic Bridges Certification – Must
  • Hands-on experience with Epic BMDI.
  • Strong understanding of biomedical device integration.
  • Knowledge of HL7 and healthcare interoperability.
  • Experience troubleshooting production integration issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with biomedical/clinical device vendors.
  • Experience with incident, problem, and change management.
  • Ability to provide on-call/24x7 production support.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Mirth, or equivalent interface engines.
  • Experience with Epic Interconnect.
  • Knowledge of networking and secure connectivity.
  • Experience supporting medical devices in acute-care/hospital environments.
  • ITIL certification or equivalent service-management experience.
  • L3 Expectations
  • Lead troubleshooting of complex BMDI production issues.
  • Perform advanced RCA and identify permanent corrective actions.
  • Lead technical resolution during major incidents.
  • Analyze recurring device/interface failures and recommend improvements.
  • Mentor L2 analysts.
  • Coordinate technical resolution across Epic, biomedical engineering, infrastructure, vendors, and application teams.
  • Review technical changes and ensure appropriate testing and production validation.
