Job Summary

Software Engineer / Senior Software Engineer – Optics Driver Team (Data Center Networking)

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer / Senior Software Engineer to join our Optics Driver Team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in C and Python programming, platform software development, and deep understanding of optical networking technologies. This role involves developing and validating optics drivers, enabling hardware platforms, debugging complex hardware-software interactions, and supporting next-generation optical transceiver technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain optics driver software for networking platforms.Perform board bring-up, platform enablement, and hardware-software integration activities.Develop and optimize Layer-1 datapath software components for optical modules and networking hardware.Implement and support industry-standard optical management interfaces and protocols, including SFF, CMIS, and C-CMIS.Troubleshoot and debug complex issues across software, firmware, and hardware layers.Collaborate with hardware, FPGA, system test, and platform teams to ensure seamless integration and feature delivery.Create test automation, diagnostics, and validation frameworks using Python.Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and architecture planning.Leverage modern development practices and AI-assisted tools for software development, testing, and productivity improvements.

Other Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience in C programming and Python scripting.
  • Experience in platform software development for embedded or networking systems.
  • Solid knowledge of board bring-up, hardware enablement, and device driver development.
  • Strong understanding of Layer-1 networking concepts and optical communication technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with optical transceiver standards such as SFF and CMIS.
  • Experience in software debugging, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with Linux-based development environments and embedded systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with C-CMIS implementation and validation.
  • Knowledge of Cisco IOS XR architecture and networking platforms.
  • Experience working on high-speed networking products such as routers, switches, and optical systems.
  • Strong expertise in hardware/software integration and platform diagnostics.
  • Exposure to automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and AI-assisted development/testing tools.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, optics, and networking protocols.

Minimum Salary (US):  69000

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies. In addition, this role is eligible for the following benefits subject to company policies: medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, life, accidental death & dismemberment, and disability insurance; employee assistance program; 401(k) retirement plan; 10 days of paid time off per year (some positions are eligible for need-based leave with no designated number of leave days per year); and 10 paid holidays per year.
