Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Prototype Hardware Development.

Lead the development of robotic and electromechanical hardware from early conceptual ideation through detailed design, prototyping, and final hardware bring‑up.

This includes translating high‑level functional requirements into robust, testable prototype hardware suitable for iterative development and validation.

Multi‑Disciplinary Engineering Assessment:

Apply a broad range of engineering disciplines—including mechanical, electrical, electronics, embedded systems, and software engineering—to evaluate the current state of robotic systems.

Perform root cause analysis of technical issues, identify system inefficiencies, and propose design, performance, reliability, or manufacturability improvements across hardware and software boundaries.

Project Evaluation and Technical Planning:

Independently assess new and ongoing robotics projects by evaluating technical complexity, risks, constraints, timelines, and dependencies.

Clearly understand project goals and use sound engineering judgment to define the most effective development approach, milestones, resources, and execution plans.

Robotics System Integration & Validation:

Support the integration of mechanical hardware with electronics, sensors, actuators, control systems, and embedded software.

Participate in system‑level testing, debugging, and validation to ensure robotic platforms meet performance, safety, and operational requirements.

End‑to‑End Product Development Ownership: Own all aspects of robotics hardware development, including:

Conceptual and detailed mechanical design

Engineering analysis and trade‑off studies

3D CAD modeling and design for manufacturability/assembly (DFM/DFA)

Creation of detailed engineering drawings and documentation

Bill of Materials (BOM) generation and cost estimation

Coordination with vendors and fabrication partners

Prototype assembly, integration, and system bring‑up

Functional, performance, and reliability testing of robotic subsystems and full systems

Clear reporting of test results, design decisions, and lessons learned.

Skill Requirements

Skills Required:

Proficiency in mechanical design and 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360, or similar)

Solid understanding of electromechanical systems, including motors, actuators, sensors, gear trains, and structural components

Working knowledge of electrical and embedded systems, including PCB interaction, power distribution, and basic firmware/software interfaces

Ability to create and manage engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation

Experience with prototype fabrication, assembly, integration, testing, and troubleshooting

Experience working with robotic platforms, subsystems, or automation equipment, including mobile robots, industrial robots, or custom robotic systems

Understanding of robot mechanics, kinematics, motion systems, and system integration

Ability to assess robotic system performance and recommend design, reliability, efficiency, or cost improvements

Exposure to controls, PLCs, ROS/ROS2, or embedded control architectures is a strong advantage

Proven ability to independently assess project scope, complexity, and risks and define effective technical plans

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet development timelines in a fast‑paced R&D or product environment

Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting, design reviews, and cross‑functional collaboration

Ability to work closely with software engineers, electrical engineers, manufacturing teams, and external vendors

Comfortable presenting technical concepts and design decisions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
