Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong hands-on experience in PL/I programming, along with working knowledge of CICS, Cobol, and Datacom DB. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, enhancing, and supporting mainframe applications in a production environment. This role requires strong analytical skills, debugging capability, and experience working with legacy mainframe systems.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, modify, test, and support mainframe applications using PL/I.

Work on application maintenance, production support, enhancements, and defect resolution.

Analyze existing mainframe programs and business logic written in PL/I and COBOL.

Support online transaction processing applications using CICS.

Work with Datacom DB for data access, queries, analysis, and troubleshooting.

Perform impact analysis for change requests, incidents, and application enhancements.

Debug and resolve technical issues across batch and online mainframe environments.

Prepare technical specifications, unit test plans, and implementation documentation.

Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, application teams, and production support teams.

Participate in code reviews, system testing, regression testing, and production deployments.

Ensure compliance with coding standards, change management processes, and mainframe best practices.

Skill Requirements

Strong hands-on programming experience in PL/I.

Experience with COBOL in a mainframe environment.

Working knowledge of CICS for online transaction processing.

Exposure to Datacom DB, including data retrieval, analysis, and issue resolution.

Experience with JCL, VSAM, file handling, and batch processing.

Ability to analyze and understand complex legacy application code.

Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Experience in production support, incident management, and root cause analysis.

Good understanding of software development life cycle and change management processes.

Other Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Relevant experience in mainframe application development and support.

Prior experience working on enterprise-level legacy modernization or maintenance projects is preferred.

The candidate should have strong practical experience in PL/I, not limited to COBOL-only development. They should be comfortable working in a mainframe environment involving CICS online applicationsDatacom DB, batch processing, debugging, and production support. The role requires someone who can independently analyze legacy code, troubleshoot issues, and deliver reliable application enhancements.
