Job Summary
Design and deliver secure, resilient and observable digital services using Python and TypeScript / Node.js, with cloud native AWS engineering and responsible agentic AI capabilities. Provide technical leadership across the software lifecycle, uplift engineering standards and help the squad turn complex business problems into simple, supportable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities
• Own all aspects of the SDLC, including analysis, estimation, architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, production support, maintenance and optimisation. • Design, build and maintain Python services, REST APIs, event-driven components and microservices; contribute to TypeScript / Node.js services and integration layers. • Engineer agentic AI solutions that use large language models, tools and enterprise data responsibly, with clear guardrails, human oversight, evaluation, observability and fallbacks. • Drive pragmatic, fit-for-purpose solutions of high technical quality and act as a quality advocate for the squad, preferring defect prevention and fast feedback. • Coach and guide software engineers through design reviews, pairing, code reviews and technical problem solving. • Embed DevSecOps practices across CI/CD, dependency and container scanning, secrets management, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing and secure deployment. • Design for AWS reliability, scalability, cost efficiency, recoverability and operational support, using managed services where appropriate. • Build production observability through structured logging, metrics, traces, dashboards, alerting and actionable service-level indicators. • Protect customer information through privacy-aware design, least-privilege access, secure coding and proactive remediation of security findings. • Communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across squads and platforms. • Proactively identify, discuss and act on current and future technology, security, operational and model risks.
Skill Requirements
Your skills & experience • 8-12 years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership in complex production environments. • Advanced Python, including API and service development, testing, packaging, concurrency and performance optimisation. • Strong TypeScript / Node.js experience for services, APIs and integration components. • Experience with REST, asynchronous messaging, event-driven design and microservices architecture. • Hands-on AWS engineering, such as Lambda, ECS or EKS, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB or RDS, SQS or SNS, EventBridge, IAM, CloudWatch and Secrets Manager. • Infrastructure as code using Terraform, AWS CDK or CloudFormation. • Agentic AI engineering experience, including LLM orchestration, tool/function calling, retrieval augmented generation, prompt and context design, evaluation, safety controls and production monitoring. • DevSecOps and CI/CD using Git-based workflows and automated build, test, security and deployment pipelines. • Unit, integration, contract and end-to-end testing; familiarity with TDD and BDD. • Containers and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes; secure software supply-chain practices. • Observability using tools such as OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, Splunk, Grafana or equivalent. • Secure coding, threat modelling, vulnerability management and risk-aware engineering in a regulated environment.
