Job Description – Senior .NET Backend Developer
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior .NET Backend Developer to strengthen the BI Basis Microsoft team working on the Achmea Data Platform. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend solutions while collaborating closely with platform architects and guiding medior developers.
You will play a key role in delivering secure, scalable, and maintainable software in a complex enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using C# and .NET
- Collaborate with the platform architect to translate architectural designs into high‑quality software solutions
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to medior .NET engineers
- Ensure solutions are secure, maintainable, bug‑free, and extensible
- Build and enhance internal tooling that supports automated platform provisioning on Azure
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development standards, code quality, and best practices
- Work closely with infrastructure and functional teams to align technical solutions with platform and business requirements
Technical Environment
- Backend technologies: C#, .NET, SQL Server
- APIs & integration: REST APIs, Swagger / OpenAPI
- Identity & security: Microsoft Entra ID
- Cloud & automation: Azure, Infrastructure‑as‑Code, PowerShell, Azure DevOps pipelines
Team & Context
You will be part of the BI Basis Microsoft team that delivers the Achmea Data Platform for data scientists, data analysts, and data consultants. The team consists of:
- Infrastructure engineers delivering Azure components using Infrastructure‑as‑Code
- .NET engineers building and maintaining the internal platform tool “Governor”, which manages configuration and orchestrates Azure deployments
- Functional colleagues who support platform users and translate business needs into new platform requirements
The Senior .NET Backend Developer plays a central role in the development and evolution of the Governor platform and in maintaining close alignment between architecture, implementation, and operational needs.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong senior‑level experience with C#/.NET
- Solid knowledge of SQL Server
- Proven experience designing and building REST APIs
- Experience with Swagger / OpenAPI
- Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID
- Experience working in complex, enterprise‑scale environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to mentor developers
Key Responsibilities
2. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
3. Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, and timelines.
4. Contribute to the architecture and design of software applications, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
5. Participate in code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance application performance.
6. Stay updated on emerging technologies in the microsoft ecosystem and recommend innovative solutions to enhance product offerings.
7. Troubleshoot technical issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to ensure seamless project delivery.
