Ansible Automation Engineer – Job Description
Role Overview
This role is for an Ansible Engineer who will be required to collaborate closely with customers, application, infra and platform teams, and lead infrastructure automation initiatives. The role focuses on enabling productivity of operational teams by using automation for build, configuration management and maintenance of application platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Playbook & Role Development: Write, debug, and optimize reusable, Ansible playbooks, roles, and collections.
- Platform Administration: Manage and administer Ansible Tower / AWX or the Ansible Automation Platform (AAP)
- CI/CD Integration: Integrate Ansible workflows with continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
- API Integrations: Build integrations between Ansible and enterprise tools (e.g., ServiceNow, AWS/Azure, Jira, VMware)
- Troubleshooting: Monitor automation workflows, diagnose deployment failures, and provide L3 support for infrastructure-related issues.
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills
- Experience: 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, System Administration, or Platform Engineering.
- Ansible Expertise: Deep understanding of Ansible components (playbooks, roles, Jinja2 templating, dynamic inventories).
- Middleware Knowledge: Good knowledge on middleware platforms (WebSphere Application Server, MQ, Apache Tomcat, ESB).
- Scripting & Coding: Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- OS & Cloud Knowledge: Good Experience in Linux/UNIX engineering (e.g., RHEL) and working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Version Control: Familiarity with Git workflows (GitHub/GitLab).
